Has anyone used carb cycling in bodybuilding training post-WLS? If so, have you found it doable and did you acquire your desired results? I'm below goal and want to start building... and perhaps do competitions one day. Any tips would be great, thanks!

edited to change title from carb loading to carb cycling.

Not too sure why you would want to carb load. When endurance athletes talk about carb load, they usually are talking about the week or days leading up to a race, where you would back down your protein intake and dramatically increase your carb intake to top off glycogen stores for the longest most sustained energy. When you think of carbs when it comes to lifting, you are probably desiring super-strong pumps and rapid transport of carbohydrate to the muscle. This does not occur by carb loading, it usually occurs as a result of proper balance of protein to carb and timing. Also your supplements can help with that. Nitric Oxide, Creatine, Glutamine, Protein (All different kinds) I would recommend whey for rapid dispersion and in the evening Kasiene for slower more steady release in your sleep, perhaps brewers yeast if you are looking to bulk, plenty of bcaa's and a good balanced diet. Your caloric intake will need to DRAMATICALLY increase if you are hoping to bulk. Figure out your cycles (Not Menstral) 9 weeks building, 2 weeks off, 6 weeks cutting, etc... Figure out if you like split workouts or 1 major muscle group a day. Sleep and rest are almost as important as your workouts when building. Best of luck in your aspirations, you rock!!!

From my brief reading online it is a way of varying your carb intake dependent on whether you train large or small muscle groups on a given day (large muscle training= high carb day). Carb cycling in body building is supposed to give a better cut and defined muscle tone... just wondering if anyone on here has tried cycling and had success. I'm going to check some books out from the library and see if its a) doable, and b) produces any results over 60 days.

Thanks for your replies!
