East Coast Race Recommendations?
Hi All,
I'm looking to find a 10k & Half to sign up for now so that I can't talk myself out of it later. Does anyone have any recommendations for races on the East Coast?
I've been using the race finders on Runner's World and coolrunning.com to look up races for next year - but wasn't sure if there was a hidden gem I've been missing out on or if there's a course/race that you guys would recommend to try..
Thanks for any advice you guys have to offer!

The first thing that you should to do is sign up New England Runner Magizine. It has a very extensive NE running calander with all the big races in it. It even rates the top 50 races in NE. What time of year do you want to do these races.
Hyannis has a full/half/10K in mid February that I have done a few times. It's really well run. I have run the Danbury, CT half in April and that is an okay race. Huge down hill to the finish. The bridge of flowers 10K in Shelborn MA is mid summer and gets rave reviews. My favorite race of the summer is on the first Saturday in August at Ocean Beach Park in New London, CT. It is an 11.6 mile race through New London and Waterford, CT and also ends at Ocean Beach Park where I have hung out at the beach after. This race is also free. Again - my favorite. The Niantic Bay 1/2 in Sept is really flat and fast. It is where I set my 1/2 PR. Last year I did the Hartford 1/2 in Oct and that was another very well run race. Then there is always Disney in January. 3 of my 4 marathons have been there. The half course there is also great.
Again, New England Runner is a great start. It must list 300-400 races a year. Not sure if they have one on line.

Look up the running clubs in your area. They usually have some pretty good races/events listed and you can find some great hidden gems. See if there is a road runners club in your area as well, they often list some pretty good races.Good luck!

Thanks Scott, I'm not sure how I hadn't stumbled upon their site earlier! I'm going to look into those races you mentioned and figure out which ones I want to sign up for.
I'm going to an informational meeting next week at the local Y about tri's (I'm interested in doing the relay) and hopefully there will be more info there about local running clubs as well.
Thanks guys!!
