Hey all!
I am new to this board. I have (finally) joined a gym and I'm lost. It's been over 10 years since I've worked out and my memory is fuzzy. I know that it's a good idea to do cardio every day but not sure how long. I also remember that with weight training, you should do upper one day and lower the next. But, I don 't know what exercises to do. My gym doesn't offer a service to set you up with a routine for under $60 and I just don't have it right now.
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome to the board,

Well you don't necessarily want it to be running every day as your cardio, or cycling or eliptical machines.
I recommend that you vary up your routine.

Also do you have a goal you want to attain from working out.  Is it just general health, do you want to be a runner or endurance athlete, do you want to be a weight lifter or body builder.

Do you have any physical limitations that would cause you to not be able to do any of the exercises or would cause you to have to modify the way they are done.

I think that your goals will help determine how much, how hard, and how long you will work out.

There might be some more information available for you if we knew what your workout goals were.

Here is a link with some suggestions of specific exercises to use for each muscle group while weight training.

You can do many of them on machines or with free weights.
