7 days post op and I want to workout
It will be tough for you to gain muscle mass with a diet of 500-600 calories a day. I def believe in strength trainng, but wait until your Surgeon OK's you for it (Usually 6 weeks). I think it's awesome that you want to get after it so quick! Be patient progress slowly and steadily and be realistic with your goals and recognize and celebrate each and every small and great triumph on your journey! Best of luck and keep us posted on your progress...

My surgeon had me wait 6 weeks but when I got there, I still didn't feel right so I waited another two. When I did start, it was with very light weights. Even with all the waiting, I ended up with an incisonal hernia. I know that you want to rush back into it but you really should wait a bit.

I 'm also 7 days post op and 4 days out of the hospital...Yesterday I went to the Dr office to take care out my JP drain and I lost already 12 pounds...I'm so happy for that. I'm like you I wanted do exercise, I don't want my skin look Fu?? after couple a month , but the minimun you can wait is 6 week, you can start walking in the flat surface 30 minutes a day no more...and after 6 week you can start with the exercise, but always ask you Dr first. He or she know when you ready. I drink 2 0z of liquid every hr. 90% protein. Every 1/2 hr I drink water....and I fill good...haow you filling right now...Good Luck...

Congrats.
Just a note on the skin issue. Either it will be or it won't. Exercise isn't going to make the floppy skin go away. It will tone muscle under it, but unless you can build as much muscle as you had fat, you are likely going to have lose skin.
Now some peoples bodies will recover well. I have a lady in my support group who has almost no extra skin. She didn't exercise beyond walking. It's a combination of genetics and how long you were over weight and how much you stretched out the skin.

The first time you do something - It's going to be a personal record!
You will be losing weight fast, unfortunatley part of that will be muscle as well as fat.
Keep the protein up, and as soon as you get clearance to do any type of weight lifting or resistance training do it. It's terrible to have to try and build it back up. It's better if you can try to slow the burning of the muscle in the first place.
