Topic: RE: Disability & Meds

Under SSDI you must be disabled from the illness or the side effects of the medications used treat the illness.  If fatigue is disabling as a primary symptom or as a side effect you may qualify for disability.

NOLO puts out a book with the SS code by illness.  It describes in detail the qualifying factors to be approved for disability under Social Security.  If you meet their standard you will meet any insurance company standard.

*bumping*

I hope everyone is doing as well as can be expected.  I've been trying to get everything sorted out. my brothers daughter has been living in one of the duplexes and she wasn't too happy about me selling them.  I have put enough money into a trust fund for her so she will at least have an anuity. She is going to have to make it on her own. Lots of stress with the move is all i've been dealing with.

Kristy, I guess dh is excited, his work takes him all over the country, mainly to NY & NJ, so I don't see him much anyway.  I know at times he will visit me in Florida, but not until he retires will he move there for good.  My brother tried to buy me out, but I wouldn't let him, it's a good thing too. His daughter would have just pissed it all away.

I hope everyone has a wonderful HALLOWEEN! It's my favorite holiday.

I just wanted to say Hi.  I'm new and still awaiting for an official dx.  I go back on 11/20 to see if they have ruled out all other things.

Hi,
The sad thing is that narcotics are really the only thing that actually works. (once you get a good combo) I use the Fentanyl patch 50 mcg and Norco as a break though med.  My combo works very well for me.  I was taking Cymbalta but stopped that, too expensive and I can't see a difference.  Also, try to get into a pain clinic.  They are there for the skills and pills as they put it.  The doctors give meds to pts cuz they know we need it and they aren't worried about getting into trouble like a reg doctor is.  HOpe this helps.  Kristy

Welcome aboard! I don't know of specific places in your city but have you tried a rheumatologist or a different pain clinic? I would think a city that big would have more than one. Wish you luck!

Can someone help me find a place that will help me with my pain in St. Louis?  I go to a pain mgt clinic but they just work on my herniated discs and won't give me pain meds.  I am at a lose and don't know what to do anymore.  Anything would be appreciated.

Topic: RE: Pre Surgery Diet/Meds
Thats true and you never can take them after surgery. I have severe arthritis and the fibro, sometimes I wish I could take something. I take 3 vicoden a day mostly for my arthritis. But I am still glad that I had the surgery and stopped cause I didn't need  2 blood pressure pills, zocor, thyroid med's and needing two med's for my asthma....
So there are pro's and con's.
