Pro scar is used for treating urinary problems caused by an enlarged prostate gland (benign pro static hyperplane, BAH). It is also used to lower the risk of needing surgery to treat BAH. It may be used with another medicine (downsizing) to lower the risk of worsening BAH. Pros car is a type of steroid reductase inhibitor. It works by reducing the amount of the hormone dihydro testosterone (DPT) in the body. This makes the prostate gland smaller, which helps to relieve urinary problems. I know I am bumping up an old post, but Thank You!
this information is Very helpful & just want I needed to read tonight
Initial consultation tomorrow morning, nearly 30 years Type 1, insulin pump, fighting daily to not weigh 310
I was told that the RNY procedure is the only one that works on Diabetis, you will have some low sugars after surgery, but docs will adjust meds, you will be off some of them when you leave hospital. best thing I ever did for myself, saved my life.
I'm 62, diabetic, HBP, joint pain. My BMI is 40 and all my doctors recommended I have WLS. I'm scheduled for the sleeve June 24. I have to do preop for 1 week. I'm very worried about my BS going to low. I see my surgeon next week and will get more info but wonder if anyone who has gone through the VSG has tips. Thanks!!
My Surgeon told me that the bypass and the sleeve were a lot closer (percentage wise) to resolving diabetes than your Dr. He also said there were a lot more bypasses out there than sleeves and expected the outcomes to get closer and closer over time. He also told me that they used to convert sleeves into bypasses for extremely obese people but they are finding there was no advantage to doing that.
1. Did your Type II diabetes resolve with RNY? No
2. Was it hard and slow to lose weight after surgery? No
3. Were lows a problem for you? No
4. What is the probability that diabetes will return in you later years? 50% at five years out.
5. Do you know what BMI you were at when diabetes resolved? Never and I got down to 23 BMI
6. How long did it take to resolve your diabetes? Some people are taken off medicines in the hospital and diabetes never returns. It is a crap shot. A 450 pound person who is completely non-compliant with diet and exercise might resolve completely with RNY. A person who is very compliant might never resolve.

NOPE!!! I was a diagnosed diabetic for 8 years. I've been off all medications since surgery.
I am 6 months out from surgery. My sugars run 77-80. My most recent A1c was 5.0 WOO-HOO!!! I just met with my specialist and he declared that based on my 3 month labs and my 6 month labs that I am in remission and on paper, I am no longer diabetic and if someone didn't know my health history, they would never know I had been. With that being said, he stressed that I continue my healthy lifestyle and eating accordingly (ie: keeping carbs low). I am about 50 pounds from my personal goal.

I was diabetic. I am considered in remission and a non-diabetic as of now. My specialist insists you aren't cured by any weight loss surgery, you are only in remission. If you make wrong food choices down the road, it will come back.
I researched all options and I actually had the Sleeve surgery 6 months ago. (I wanted to keep my pyloric valve as well as needed the option of being able to take NSAIDS post surgery). I am off all my diabetes medications. At my 3 month labs my A1c had dropped to 5.6. My 6 months labs were just drawn and my A1c was 5.0.
I had zero complications. I LOVE my sleeve.

Hi my name is Pauline and I ah rny on march 20th.i had type I I diabetes uncontrolled on meds. My las A1C was 8.7 and and fasting was 179. 4 days after surgery my sugars were in normal ranges and I didn't need anymore medication! The surgery is by no way a quick fix, I struggle every day, but feel so much betterI have lost 30bs so far and the doctor thinks I should lose another 60 which would make me around 115 lbs. No moe diabetes ever again! I would recommend the surgery to you. Getting rid of the diabetes is the no 1 priority but you also get to lose a ton of weight!
Good luck on your journey I wish you we'll!
