Sadly, not all methods of checking for body fat are accurate.  :/  But it's still good information to have!

I'm going to ask them to check my fat percentage next time I'm in there.  Probably more accurate for us than the standard BMI chart.  If it's 30% or less, then I'm technically not overweight.  And if I'm over that, then at least I'll have a better idea of how much more I need to lose....

Right!  That's what I wonder about as well.  Ideally I'd like to see 120, but with bone density and even a low estimate for skin weight, it might not be feasible to get below 130.  So.. what's a realistic "final" goal?

I guess we'll know when we get there, right? :D

someone else whose beginning and ending weights more or less parallel mine had plastic surgery recently.  She had something like 6-8 lbs of skin removed - which isn't as much as you would think - but still, that's about half of the 15 lbs that I'm overweight by...

I totally understand.  I'm 5'4" and top end of normal for me is 145.  But the dense bones thing is real, and there's excess skin of course.. so I wonder.  Once I hit 150 I'm going to talk to the plastic surgeon I have chosen, and my VSG surgeon, and see what they think about weight goals and plastics, etc.

5'6"    The high end of my normal BMI range is 154, so I'm aiming to get under that.  Although my surgeon said I probably have pretty dense bones from weighing well over 300 lbs - so that might account for some of the overage.  I actually think I look pretty good at my current weight, but I'd like a cushion and I'd also like to get to a normal BMI if at all possible - if even just for a few days!!
