Last night I decided we hadn't had pasta in a long time so I made a homemade sauce filled with chicken apple sausage, tomatoes, bell pepper, onion and spices. It was wonderful. I wasn't planning on eating but a few bites of pasta, just the nice thick sauce with cheese.

I cooked up some mini bow tie pasta, and mixed it all together. My hubby isn't a pasta fan but once in awhile he'll ask for it, I'm talking maybe twice a year. I served it up and we ate a yummy tasting dinner.

As I was cleaning up and putting the leftovers in storage dishes I did something I haven't done since surgery, I started eating spoonfuls of it. I got the kitchen all cleaned up and then thought I'd have a few more bites before I put it away.

God help me, I was suddenly sick as could be and it lasted for hours. I couldn't throw up but I had the foamies so bad, and the pains were terrible.

Much to my hubbies surprise as I'm walking the floor, I'm saying I'm so glad this happened! He actually started laughing.

I really am glad, I guess since it's been so long since I've actually gotten sick that I needed a reminder, and I got one BIG TIME!

Pasta, I have now decided is a major trigger food for me and not something we need to eat, so it will not be in the house anymore.

I'm so hardheaded I seem to only learn the hard way sometimes!

you are absolutely right... it doesn't take much for a quick reminder and a kick in the pants..

Isn't it funny how sometimes you can almost forget that your guts have been rerouted?  Every once in a while I'll be distracted while I'm eating, usually when I'm having dinner at a restaurant with friends.  I'll have one or two bites too much of something, and suddenly be very, very uncomfortable.  But it's an instant reminder that my system has been altered and that I can no longer eat mindlessly...

Hope you've recovered from your "oops" and that you're feeling better now -

Hi,  I am almost 8 yrs out and every now and then I also get a reminder that I have to stop eating and not clean the plate.  It is ok to leave food on the plate.  I also have trouble withpasta, chinese food and rice, as they are not always my friend. I am regaining weight , even though I still have restriction.  So be careful, because it can happen.  It is not always being hardheaded, but our minds try to over power our tool.  My BMI was 61 to start never got to a normal BMI and is now back to 50.4.  I am now seeing a revision.

Oh, I hate the foamies.  I thought they were an early on symptom until I had them the other day.  Yuck.

Amen to the tool!  I was starving and gobbled a slice of Costco pizza the other day while I was driving and just about horked the thing back up.  The only thing that saved me was I did not want to hork all over my car interior.  Instead, I went home and had to lie down for a while.  It was miserable.
I'm not sure if it was that I ate too fast, or Costco's cheese is too greasy, or what.  Yuk.

After nearly two years, I am glad that I still hork on occasion.  It reminds me that my tool is still working.

I love pasta but I can't handle it since my DS. Bad cramps and gas. But I found a substitue you might like too. I got it on the carbsmart.com website. It is called skinny spagetti. It is made from soy. It has a great consistancy and has 26 grams of protein with mininal carbs per 2 ounce serving. I love it. I use it with meat sauce. I break it up and make chicken noodle soup which I have really missed.
