It's almost time

My big race is tomorrow and I'm nervous!

For those of you that don't know, I have been training for a 12 hour/60 mile adventure race (this race involves 25 miles of mountain biking, 10 miles of kayaking, 10 miles of hiking/running and a 6 mile orienteering course.) I've done a couple of small, local races but this one is the big league - a professional group that puts on huge races (this one has about 200 racers). Tomorrow morning at 7:30 am I will be lining up with all those other crazy people to begin what I am sure will be a crazy adventure!

This has been a long time dream for me. I use to watch the big races (10 days and 500+ miles!) and think "if I could only do that." But being 200 pounds overweight made it impossible. I told my surgeon at my first appointment that after surgery i was going to run a race, that was my goal. And while I've done those small races, this feels like the real thing. I can't believe I am doing this!

If you want to check out the race, check out their website . http://www.gravityplay.com/adventureracing/summit.html. I'm also going to try to update my blog with an update after the race (I'll also post something here, just not sure when) so check out my blog - http://theminimeinme.blogspot.com/   It's just something fun I started to document all my adventures outside.

For all of you out there who are just beginning the process of surgery, or are a new post-op, or even a later post-op, this just goes to show you that you can do anything after surgery! There is no limit to how far you can take this - I never imagined that my life would be like this, that I would be able to run a race that I only dreamed of before. But it's happening - whatever your dream may be, you can do it too.

See you guys next week (hopefully I'll return in one piece!)

I'm super excited for you, PJ!  Go out there and kick some booty, even if it's just yours, and enjoy this fantastic experience.  I'm super proud of you and wish I could be there to cheer you on.  Have a blast

WOW PJ...I ahve chills just thinking about how far you've come.  I will be thinking of you tomorrow and rooting for your success.  Actually, you are already a winner....losing 200 lbs was something you probably never imagined, right?  Good luck & let us know how it goes.  HUGS  Jeanine

Well I hope the weather cooperates for you.  It sounds really gruelling, but also fun.  The biking, kayaking and hiking seems so different than a triathalon.  I've never been in a kayak, but would love to try it now.  Before, I always feared that I would get stuck or much worse, not fit in the little opening.

Good luck and after you've rested, post an update!
