My name is Linda and I HATE cottage cheese... There I said it.  I know this is unheard of among wls patients but I just can't eat it. I have tried, really. We always have it in the fridge because Hubby loves it but I just look at it and think "Dude!! This is spoiled milk! Don't eat it!!. I know it is super good for me and packed with protien but eww. It's also a texture thing too. Maybe if I could find some recipes that had it in there but not easily seen or tasted I could eat it. Please help.

Cottage cheese pancakes (search OH for the recipe, lots of people have it - or go to The World According to Eggface blog) - you blend it up, so the texture is gone.

You can also use it in place of ricotta in lasagna - noodless lasagna is good - use zucchini in place of the noodles.  Or eggplant.  Either case you have to salt the veggie and let some of the water come out.

I don't like the texture either.  I can gag down about 1/4 cup but it has to be the large curd cheese.  Same thing for ricotta.  Don't really care for that either.  I did try the dessert recipe two days ago and it was surprisingly good.  I think it's a texture issue for me.

No one says you have to like cottage cheese or that you have to eat it. There are other things out there with more protein and calcium that you can eat.

Try Nonfat Greek style yogurt - I add Splenda and berries to it, or I use it in place of sour cream.

I like to mix cottage cheese with fruit too.  I have a friend that can not eat it either and it's because fo the texture.  She puts cottage cheese and yogurt in a blender and mixes them together.  Maybe try that??

Amen sister!  That stuff is disgusting!!! I've tried it sweet, I've tried it savory, I've tried it in stuff.  Probably the only dairy product on the earth that I don't like.

hi,

I can't eat cottage cheese either. wanna hear something really funny though?
I loved cottage cheese before surgery. Loved it! Since surgery i find it has too strong a taste to it. I have been thinking about trying to add it to a smoothie though because it has so much protein in it.  Cover up the taste with some sugar free strawberry syrup and some strawberries, and lots of milk.

werid eh?
