3 months post op today!!!!

Well I am 3 months and one day post op today and 89 pounds down!! WOWWW I do not believe I got this far that fast. My body has adjusted to the smaller amount to eat though I still have a few cranky issues from time to time. Namely throwing up when my stomach is empty. Still do not know why "it" does that but it does.  Besides that my blood work has finally come back as close to normal as it can be and has been in a long time. I am off  3 of my blood pressure meds and only on one and take 1/4 as much as I usto. I have as well learned the hard way to make sure I drink enough water. We all know how I learned that one ;o)

I still see myself in a mirror the same as before I lost weight. It will just take time I know. I "feel" like I am loosing weight very slowly when I look in the mirror but the scale says a completely different thing.  I know time will fix it. Well enough from me, just wanted to share my anniversary with everyone.

Kathleen -
Awesome job.  That is quite a bit of weight to lose in such a short period of time.  It's no wonder the brain can't keep up with the scale. (I should listen to myself here).  You must feel great about getting off the meds and your lab results.  So many of us (maybe all of us on this particular forum) chose surgery for health reasons.  A toast:  to good health

When I am suffering from that body image issue where I think "I'm still huge!" I look at my progress pictures and it helps me so much.  It's hard for us to look at ourselves in the mirror and see the smaller self.  Our brain wants to see the fatter version that we were so used to.

Try as much as possible to take monthly progress pictures and that will help you along the way!

Good job on the weight loss and just keep following the rules your surgeon set for you!

I still sometimes have problems with nausea and gagging when my stomach is empty, although I rarely throw up, sometimes I'll spit up some slimey mucous when my stomach is empty.  When it is acting like that I find that hot tea helps the most, or warm water with lemon.

Way to go with the weight loss and yay for getting off some medicine and for the better bloodwork!  The body issue stuff takes time.  I still look the same to myself most of the time, even though my waist is not 30 inches smaller .  It still looks the same to me!

Kathleen,

Congrats on the wt loss and the decrease in meds.  I am a few days ahead of you and know exactly what you mean about the body look.  It's hard for me to see it too!!!   Did you take pics of you before surgery?  Take some now on you anniversary and compare, you will be sure to see the difference then!

Keep up the good work

Congrats!  I am new to the forum. I just had surgery on 7/14/08 and have a bmi over 50 and am excited I found this forum.  I am trying to write all the foods down so I can have a record of what I am eating and today I go back for my 1st follow up visit.

I am trying to locate the Any Whey protein, GNC says that they don't carry it. I am in Houston Texas so if anyone out there knows where I can find it. Please let me know.

Enjoy the day!
