What's your goal weight?

My starting weight was 446.  I want desperately to be below 200 pounds but I know that realistically, I shouldn't shoot for too much below 200 or I will be horribly disappointed so I have settled on 180-185.  My doc says that I will be lucky to hit 225, but we shall see.  I like a challenge!!!

I am pre-op and my HW was 360.  I want to be half the person I was so that is a goal of 180.  My surgeon seemed supportive of that goal and hasn't mentioned a different number to me.

My high was 406 and I was 374 the day of surgery.  We never discussed my goal (thankfully).  I arbitrarily put 150 but as I've educated myself here on the board, I'm thinking 175 might be more realistic.  I'm assuming that as I approach 220 I'll be able to reassess the situation.  Having been so heavy for so long, I don't have a clue what is realistic.

Highest was 479.  My surgeon never set a goal weight but we talked about the 60-80% excess weight loss idea.  I've reached that.  I'm with Kix---my body seems to be really happy in the 220-210 range.  My personal goal is 179 which would be a 300 weight loss---seems like a nice round number.  I'm going to put it on my new driver's license which has never had an accurate weight anyway!

Too funny.  I think my license says 280, which I was never close to.  I need to go check.  It might be accurate within the week.  lol

My highest recorded weight was 409, and I was at 396 when I met my surgeon.  My surgeon never suggested a goal weight, but said he considers patients successful if they maintain a loss of 50% of their excess weight.

I set my personal goal around 170 after plastics.  That's about 10 pounds above the top of a "normal" weight for my height (5'7").  But I figure that I've got slightly larger organs and pretty dense bones because I was so large for so long.  Plus, I workout a lot and have more skeletal muscle than most people.  Finally, I also took into consideration where I was comfortable, in terms of my size, how I move, how much I can eat, and how much I need to exercise to maintain a particular weight.  For me, that "zen" spot is about 180-185 pounds, pre-plastics.  I'm hoping to lose 10 pounds or so of excess skin with plastics, which will put me around 170 or so.

About 14 months ago, I was in the mid-220s and for a while it felt like I wouldn't get below that.  I had a follow-up appointment with my surgeon at that time; my weight loss had really slowed down at that point and he basically said my "honeymoon" was over.  He also said that how much more weight I lost was totally up to me at that point; I could continue to lose if I wanted to work for it.  Thankfully, I'd seen such an amazing transformation up to that point, plus such tremendous improvements in my health, that I was willing to work for a lower weight in a way that I could not have done pre-op.  That helped me decide that on my goal -

Anyway, just ramblings about my process - hope some of it's helpful to you...

My highest was 465 and my doctor said that I should expect to weigh 260 when all is said and done.  The reasons that I had this surgery  such as my descreasing mobility, ability for self-care, distinct possibility of serious illness/death will all be a non-issue at 260 so if that is what I get from the journey then I will be satisfied.  Personally, I'd like to weigh less than that and right now I don't know how much I will be willing to watch calories/exercise to maintain a significantly smaller weight.  I'll have to see as I become more accostumed to my new life.  In any case, I've now had the fortune to meet many post-ops (and just many others in life) that weigh around 210 or 220 and I honestly would be very happy at that weight.  To me, it looks like that "pleasantly plump" idea and for right now that would be my ideal.  Now watch though, in a year or 18 months I'll be singing a completely different tune.

I've never posted here before, so hello everyone!

My starting weight was 376 and I got down to 188lbs (and I'll be honest....I did very little exercising).  Don't be like me!  Had I followed the program to the letter, I would most likely be in tthe 150-160 range.  My personal goal is 165, I'm 2.5 years post-op.
