How much did you weigh at your highest, and how did you decide on a "goal weight"?

My highest was 440, and my primary goal is anything under 200.  My secondary goal is 175, just because I have a hard time imagining I could get any lower than that.  To have a normal BMI I would need to be under 130 and I don't think that's possible even if I were to have the excess skin removed.  I thought 175 was on the low side of realistic so I set my goal for that.

Looks like you are almost at goal, are you rethinking yours?

That's not my goal, it's just the arbitrary end of my ticker-- I just set it for 200 pounds loss, and set off tryin'! I don't have a goal weight and don't know what's reasonable to expect, so I thought I'd ask!

On Jan 2, 2008 I weighted in at 468.8 by the morning of my surgery I weighted 454. Today I weight 364. My Dr did not step a weight goal for me. I set one for myself. I'm on a journey to lose 300 pounds that's the goal I'm working towards. However, I expect to remain in the 190 range without ever going over 200 again in my life (once I reach my goal).

I was just thinking about this today.  While I would be thrilled to be under 155, I realized today that when I was in high school, on the swimteam, swimming about three hours a day - I still weighed about 175 to 180.  Now true, I wasn'****ching calories, but my diet was basically a bacon/egg sandwich in the morning, whatever school lunch was for lunch and whatever Mom made for dinner (pretty much meat, veggie and potato) So...I'm thinking 165-175 would be perfect for me.

My highest weight was 440 at time of surgery and I'm down to kissing distance to 310 (today was 310.5!)

Jana

P.S. thanks for your response on the RNY board - it made perfect sense to me!

Being Pre-Op, for me it's hard to say. I'm at my heaviest now at 347lbs.

When I had my consult with the surgeon, he said I could expect to loose 120 to 150lbs the first year, with strict diet and exercise. That makes my first goal 197lbs.

In my mind I have a goal weight of 150-170lbs. That's what I weighed in high school and tho I have always been bottom heavy, I think I looked fine back then, even though I was a size 16. I also could do anything, physically, that I wanted to do.

I asked the surgeon if this was a reasonable long term goal and he said yes, but of course I'd have to stick to diet and exercise. So there you have it.

This journey started at 340, i'm now 252.  My first goal is 180, my dream goal is 150!  good luck, lys

My personal goal was "under 200 lbs" but I need to be at 180 (or grow 5" taller) to qualify for a TT through my HMO.

It's driving me crazy, as the lowest I have ever gotten post-op was 212 lb (and I can't figure out how I made it to 212, I think it was the week  I  kept horking up dinner).  Right now, my body seems to be quite happy in the low 220s, but I am definitely not happy in the low 220s so I am working on an aggressive adjustment in food intake/exercise.  I think I need to rethink my decision to quit the evening aquacise class.  I didn't like it much and didn't feel like it was doing anything, but I think it must have been doing something.

Highest "recorded" weight was 374.  Currently sitting at 270.  Surgeon's goal is a LAUGHABLE 135 pounds.  My goal is 148 which was a great weight for me when I felt good about myself.  I'll be happy with 165-170 and then hopefully get to around 150 after plastics.  But that's a ways off for me!

Congrats again on your surgiversary and your loss to date.
