Today I was bored and didn't want to walk into the gym area so I decided to swim. I swam for 40 minutes and did 44 laps which was 1/2 a mile. I haven't swam for exercise since I had weight loss surgery and it got boring very quickly.
Funny thing happened. I didn't have any goggles and I wear contacts so any stroke but the backstroke wouldn't work for me. I also had a tankini with a little skirt on the bottom half. Not the greatest suit to swim in. My bottom was falling down, the top was pulling up and I was just frustrated as all hell. At the end of each lap, I had to adjust everything. Then I looked down about 3 laps into it and my natural buoy, I mean breast, was trying to break free! Made that quick adjustment mid lap!
Needless to say, I need to purchase a simple one piece if I plan to continue to add swimming to my fitness routine. I got bored with it though so it won't be a frequent addition.
I don't know who they expect to wear tankinis - probably people who don't get in the water. I wore one once to water aerobics and it wasn't pretty - boobs flying out the top, out the bottom - total chaos.
I keep my swimming interesting with pool toys. I have 2 pairs of flippers, hand paddles, a mask and snorkle and goggles. I also vary my routines a bit - sets of 10, 8 or 6. I hear there is now a walkman for swimming, but I have not looked for it yet.

I did 40min on the treadmill. Its uber-humid and thick and sticky and hot and disgusting here lately, so I broke a heavy sweat even though I didn't work out as hard as I usually do. I stuck to 2.6mph on a calorie burning program (varying inclines) and kept the heart rate about 130, I usually aim for 145-155 range for heart rate. Nonetheless I am very tired and very thirsty - I've been drinking like crazy for the last 48 hrs to combat all the sweating I've been doing.
