Any other high BMIers choosing Lap-Band?

I had a BMI of 56+ when I had Lap-Band surgery on October 18, 2007.  I've lost 109# in 8 1/2 months, and my health, and its conditions/complications, have improved considerably.  I have really worked  -- walked my butt off, so to speak!!  -- but the Lap-Band has been the tool that I needed, along with diet and exercise.  I have diabetes, Type II, and my goal was to be off of insulin entirely; I'm close to that now -- I'll find out on July 21st for sure.  I exercise a lot right now -- I teach, so summer is prime workout time for me! -- and that has helped, too.  I'm not always the perfect eater, but I do okay.  Anyway, my primary care physician had recommended the Lap-Band to me ( I had never heard of it before 2005), but it took two years for my insurance to approve the surgery.  For me, this surgery was the "last resort," and I am so pleased with how I have done.   PM me if you have any questions.  There is no right or wrong surgery but they are different, so you and your doctor need to decide what is best for YOU!! Good luck, Lenore

Thank you all for the wonderful information.  I see your trackers & feel nothing but hope for a brighter future!!

Revision band to DS. I had plastics to take care of my jiggily bits. I'm feeling so good!! My results have been even better than I ever dreamed.
