I am done!
Ok. I have been slacking and putting on weight! I am done! I didn't have surgery just to lose 120 pounds. I feel good and I know I can feel better. I have been making poor food choices and now it is catching up to me. I have gain ten pounds over the last 6 months and I am done. I am going to call my doctor today to get a steroid injection in my knee so it will stop hurting so I won't have any excuse not to exercise too.
I'm not sure if you are saying you are giving up...or if you just think your body won't give up any more weight. Either way....it sounds like you are discouraged and have taken back old habits. Its easy to stay positive when the weight is coming off....more difficult to stay focused when its not. Ask yourself, do you really want to lose more ( I don't know your numbers) OR are you content with the loss you have? Either way.....to gain weight I doubt will make you happier, so tell us what is triggering the bad habits...keep a log. Taking steps to begin exercise again is a positive move, so thats good. We are here to help, but you have to be willing to recognize what is going wrong here, other than the fact that the scale isn't cooperating as fast as you hoped for. I have found using the daily plate.com helps me keep track when I'm either eating too much or too little. Try it. Good luck! Jeanine
Hi, Mari, not sure exactly what's going on for you, but wanted to offer some encouragement as you work to get things back under control. It's good that you recognize that you're making poor food choices - that's one thing that's completely under your control and that you can work to change immediately.
If your knee continues to be a challenge, perhaps you can use swimming or water aerobics for exercise, as both are non-weight bearing and very easy on the joints. You may also want to check at your local gym to see if they have an arm bike - it's a cardio machine where you basically pedal with your upper body. It's a good way to do cardio for folks w/ knee problems.
I would also encourage you, as did the prior poster, to start using a daily food journal. There are free online journals at www.fitday.com, www.thedailyplate.com, and www.sparkpeople.com. By journaling, you'll get an idea how many calories you're taking in every day, then can look for places where you can make small, maintainable changes. I've been keeping a daily food journal for 2+ years now and it's the most powerful tool in my arsenal as my weight loss has slowed down and I was ready to start maintaining.
Good luck getting yourself back on track, and please keep posting; the support here is awesome -

Thanks for your support! I want to lose more weight and I am discouraged with myself. I have been trying to go water walk and swim both but I do not do it consistantly. I have no excuse because where I live we have an indoor pool. I want to lose about 75 more pounds. I did start my food journal this morning.
I am also lucky that I have a great husband that once I make my mind up he does support me 100 %.
Thanks again....I do appreciate this forum...
Best wishes Mari. I really hope that you can get more consistent with the exercise. It's my biggest difficulty as well. However, if you can get with a program that you like you can perhaps be more forgiving of some of your food choices because you're burning extra calories. For me, I have also found that the food journal helps me when I'm beating myself up. I made what I thought was a really bad food choice the other day but once I got everything in my journal I realized that I was blowing it out of proportion...I could have made better choices, but I wasn't as doomed as I had thought.
