Calorie Countdown - Weekend edition - 4th of July, the aftermath.

I forgot to do calorie countdown yesterday.  We had kind of a crazy day - we made unexpected plans with some friends and had to clean up real quick, plus go to the grocery store.  I had a request for my fettucine alfredo - not exactly weight loss friendly or 4th of july food but I like making it and I just had some of the chicken with alfredo sauce and some broccoli.  Yum!  I ate poorly yesterday, not even eating anything until almost 4pm.  Then I had a glass of milk.  A while later I had the insides of an Amy's bean burrito.  Then dinner, as mentioned, and finally a teeny tiny 3-bite piece of pecan pie - which came back up right after our guests left.  I don't think it was the pie, I think it was the wine.  No more alcohol.  I'm done, its not worth it.  First of all, I'm drunk as a skunk on one or two glasses of wine.  Second of all, I apparently cannot control how much wine I drink after said one or two glasses.  I told my husband not to let me have more than 2, but apparently I had 4, and then fell asleep on the chaise.  Scary but I DO NOT have any memory of it.  Alcohol is dangerous as a post-op.  Add to that the worry of transfer addiction (because it feels and tastes mighty good to me) and its just not worth it.  I can't handle my booze now, and I am a little sad about it because I never drank much but I liked to have a glass of wine once or twice a week pre-op.  I genuinely enjoyed trying new wines and the mellow warmth they generated inside me.  Now its just not tolerable.  Maybe in a few years I'll try again but right now what happens is I get super drunk and then an hour later it passes and I get what feels like the hangover to end all hangovers.  I couldn't sleep last night because my head hurt so bad.  Today, my joints ache, I've got a headache.  I've got the kind of hangover that I used to only get after a weekend bender in Mexico with my college roomates.  The kind of hangover that makes you hate yourself, you know?  I hope you don't know, actually.  Its absolutely ridiculous! So far I'm just drinking a lot of water, but later today I'll have some rotisserie chicken and some cantaloupe for sure.  For dinner I'll probably make bean and cheese enchiladas or something like that.  How about you, did you make better decisions than me yesterday?  What are you eating this weekend?  Post it here and have a good one!

Well let's just say I was a carbohydrate sinner yesterday.  I made cupcakes for my nieces so they could decorate with sprinkles later.  I ate one.  Settled ok (it had about 90 cals and about 10 g carbs so I felt ok eating it)  I had a bowl of cereal for breakfast, not the best, but that's what I wanted Then I had some wheatthins Another cupcake before we went for cookout Dinner was bbq ribs and they were sooooooo good.   I had a tablespoon of potato salad and 2T of baked beans Had about a cup of watermelon.  It was flavorless. Got home and ate another handful of wheat thins and ANOTHER cupcake. Even looking at the calories, I was under 1400 for the day, but the cupcakes got to me.  I can't have that stuff around the house at all!  I do better without the temptation.

I didn't try it until 6 months out and I wish I hadn't.  Because it hits me so hard I lose all judgement much too quickly and don't realize that a second drink would be a bad idea - it seems like a fantastic idea!

Jenn- I can't drink either. Had literally two drinks back in February and hated the way it felt. No great loss-- just empty calories anyway. I do still COOK with wine, on occasion-- all the flavor with the alcohol cooked out. ___________________________________ July 4th is, for me, one of about 5 annual "Eat What You Want" days. So I did! B: 1.5 egg taco omelet (seasoned meat and cheese), 1.5 pc bacon, 1/4 piece wheat toast with butter

S: 1/2 of a  Kiddie size NF NSA white chocolate macadamia frozen yogurt at TCBY (this was soooo good)

L: 1/2 slice bacon cheeseburger pizza, 1/2 slice chicken BBQ pizza (thin crust-no outer crusts)

Samples: (clearly i don't dump on sugar or sugar alcohols-- don't try this at home!)
1 small caramel apple candy at Harry and David's
1 bite pumpkin spice cake at Harry and David's
1 SF milk chocolate peanut butter cup (this was decadent as hell)
1 SF chocolate covered almond
1 bite cinnabon cinnamon apple pretzel
1 bite amish raisin schnecken
1 bite hot dog (no bread)
Devilled egg

D: 2 oz bacon burger with.5 oz smoked cheddar and 1/2 cup roasted corn with butter (haven't had corn in over a year!)

S: 1/2 cup homemade strawberry cream cheese protein ice cream with 5 cinnamon soy crisps

Lotsa tastes, but not too bad calorically-- I was under by a hundred cals (despite sampling fudge and cheese and a pretzel bite) and very low carb yesterday, which helps. Also-- yesterday, for the first time in 10 months, I got in all 64 oz. of fluids! YAY! Anyway, my day clocked in around 1350 calories-- madness! Crazy!

We walked two miles at the mall today (it was raining) and might walk a bit tonight. ________________________________________________  Saturday July 5th-- back on the plan! S: Dannon LNF Yougurt with 1/4 c. Kashi
     small plum
L: Cashew chicken on lettuce with bleu cheese and sunflower seeds
S: 2 oz. turkey jerky
1/4 cup raspberry NSA sorbet (homemade)
D: 1/2 cup Michelle's Chicken Carbonara Casserole
S: 1 SF hard candy
BIG cherry lime slushie (No Cal)
1/2 cup strawberry cream cheese protein ice cream
      4 almonds

906 Calories   22 fat   83 carbs   102 protein

(Had a TON of fat yesterday--- almost 51%-- so I took it easier today) Walked a mile and a half through a farmer's market. ____________________________________ Sunday, Sunday, SUNDAY! 1/2 cup Amish bean soup

Alcohol is tricky for me as a post-op - I can have a couple drinks, but I have to be pretty careful.  I do handle/process alcohol better now at 2 1/2+ years out than I did at 1 year out, so you may eventually be able to handle it better.  But if not, no big deal - I'm sure you can have fun with or without wine!!! I'm not going to recap my entire food intake for the weekend, but I did enjoy some ribs, a grilled bratwurst (first one of the season), watermelon, macaroni salad, and a few bottles of Mike's Light Hard Lemonade (not all at the same time!!!).  We had friends over Friday and Saturday, and it was nice to just hang out, grill some great food, and enjoy a meal with good company..   Kellie
