Gym is Open (Fried Friday 6/27)
Good Morning Kix!
After over doing it on the elliptical yesterday, oh my aching butt muscles... I decided to sit down for today's cardio, so I took on the regular bike's strength training program at resistance 5 for 30 mins and thankfully nothing is hurting right now.... LOL

Today is definitely a 2-a-day, as I totally skipped the gym yesterday. I'll do lower body strength training and core work at lunch, then 60 minutes of cardio after work. Friday afternoon workouts are the hardest for me, because I really just want to go home, but I've only done 2 cardio sessions this week and really need do this one. Probably wouldn't be so bad if I hadn't indulged in some frozen custard and dark chocolate over the past two days; calories up and exercise down = scale goes up... So today, I'll try calories down and exercise up instead, hopefully with more positive results!!!

I've been doing plenty of walking with the guest dog, but it's not enough true cardio. I'm probably not going to get back to the gym until Monday when the neighbors return and reclaim their dog. I enjoy the walking and do burn some calories (around 300 yesterday), but it's just not the same. Also, I notice some of the definition in my floppy upper arms (Hoppy and Bob) is gone, so I need to get back to the gym pronto. I had to put a halt to the noshing (the other day, I ate 4 spenda chocolate ice cream bars) and have banned cashews from the house. I want to get back to at least the low 210s soon, I feel very nervous about being up 10 lbs.

Good morning! This week has been a bit crazy - getting use to my new job has been a challenge. So far it's a good change but I'm not too sure about long term. I love the work (it's mostly graphics, web and marketing) but not so sure about the place itself - kind of a conservative place and I'm not exactly conservative. We'll see how it goes. Any news on your job possibility? (sorry if you've mentioned it, I haven't had a chance to read through all the posts yet!)
I work half day today so I'll be heading out to Greenland to do a 16 mile bike ride, then run a trail run for 5 miles. Yes, I can hear you now "Are you crazy?!" Yup, I am.
But it's part of my training schedule for my race in July, so I'm going to attempt it. If I can do this, I will feel much better about the race since I have 4 weeks to keep up with these kinds of workouts.
Have fun working out today everybody!

The first time I saw the Springs, I couldn't believe how beautiful it is. Then I remembered that Focus on the Family is headquartered down there, and realized I probably wouldn't fit in. When I was still housebound, El Paso County had a job opening for a disease chaser, but now I see all they need to hire are public health nurses. Story of my life, my timing always sux! No word on my job yet, but I figured it would take at least two weeks since they have to check references, etc. I don't think you are crazy, if I was fit enough to do all that activity, I'd do it, too. I need to look at a map to see where Greenland is, the only one I know is actually in Greenland and I'm pretty sure you aren't headed all the way up there just for a bike ride! Oh, speaking of bike rides, did you ride your bike to work on Bike Day?

Greenland is a gorgeous area, especially in late spring/early summer. It is so green and lush I usually can't believe it's Colorado. It's right off the 25, just south of Larkspur. It has the big red barn, that's how most people remember it.
The trails were a blast, not too scary for this beginner and had some good climbs to get my heart pumping. I ended up not running - by the time I finished my 20 miles of biking I was a little lightheaded and pretty tired, so opted to head home instead. This is going to be a regular route for me - perfect training for the adventure race in July. I need to work up to adding the trail running - maybe a couple more weeks will get me there.
By the way, sorry about the job - they don't know what they are missing! Something is out there, just wait and see. It always happens when you least expect it.
Big hugs
Pam

I haven't been reporting workouts, because I haven't done much formal working out. I've been really active, cleaning, having family here. We played Dance Dance Revolution for a while and I broke a sweat. We also swam quite a bit (and I am burnt even through sunscreen) and played mini-golf on a really LONG hilly course. My mom said she didn't know you had to hike to play mini-golf. It was more exercise than we expected I think. I'll start back with formal exercise soon, Sunday probably.
