Gym is Open (Teutonic Thursday 6/19)
After 2 days in a row of only 5 hrs sleep, I slept in this morning and the only thing I used the gym for was to shower and change... shame on me.... LOL

Hi, Kix! I had to go to www.m-w.com to look up teutonic! Not often that I run into a word I don't know - thanks for teaching me something new today!
I'm meeting a friend for lunch, so no mid-day strength training. I will go to the gym after work for 60 minutes of cardio though; maybe 20 minutes elliptical, 20 minutes stairmaster, 20 minutes rowing machine. I know the stairmaster is good for me, so I try to do it at least once a week, but I don't like it as much as the other cardio equipment. Plus, it's a lot harder! Good to face our demons once in a while, eh?
Are you going to the gym today, or heading outdoors? I went home last night (Wednesday) and did yard work instead of going to the gym. It was gorgeous outside - sunny and low 70s - and my yard really needed some TLC. It looks much better today, so I'm glad I skipped the gym and did yard work instead.

Glad to add to one's vocabulary! I thought about tectonic, but I didn't want to tempt the earthquake goddess!
I was up well past 1 AM this morning rifling through every piece of paper I own and spending hours reviving a moribund laptop in a fruitless search for anything public health-related that I have written during my career. When I was seriously ill and had to move to CO, I guess my nieces tossed everything that didn't look "vital" (birth certificate, etc) when they packed up my apartment, and I don't have anything on my old laptop. The folks who interviewed me asked for a writing sample (preferrably something I did in public health like a brochure), but they said I could send one of my grad school project papers if that was all I had on hand (submitting a sample was voluntary). I can't fault my nieces, they had a heck of a time getting my affairs in CA settled in a fleeting time frame when I was in no condition to do so.
Long story short, at 2 AM, I ended up writing email thank you notes to those who interviewed me yesterday and woke up at 8 feeling utterly exhausted. I don't think I can scrape up enough energy to exercise today. I have to go check a friend's mail (they are leading a bike trip across the US and won't be back until September) and may walk around their condo complex, but I doubt I'll do any serious exercise today.
Limp Kix

Bummers about not being able to put your hands on the writing samples you wanted. Since they were optional and not mandatory, it shouldn't be a deal-breaker.
If I'd been up until 2:00 a.m. I'd be completely and utterly worthless, especially if I got up at 8:00 a.m.!!! I'd be looking for a nice, long nap to help me feel human again...

I had today off, so I figured I would have a nice, mellow day to get a good workout and get things done - WRONG! Good grief, this day was crazy! But I got tons of exercise, all types and varieties.
I'm finally feeling better and can really see the difference in my workouts - I actually have energy! I hope this is a good sign for my next race. I've signed up for a 60 mile / 12 hour race at the end of July and I really want to do better than my last race.
To launch off my crazy training, I ran 3 miles and did the rowing machine for 25 minutes. Then I came home and spent an hour doing a lot of yard work, then 2 hours doing some major spring cleaning. Then to top it off i spent 2 1/2 hours mountain biking this evening. It was a tough trail, tons of rocks, so i ended up practicing my "hike a bike" skills rather than ride down the rocks and kill myself.
I'm tired.
