sleeve gastrectomy?

Hi all, I have a high BMI high 70's, the surgeon may be doing either a Sleeve or a RNY, he said when he went in (LOL) he would then decide, have any of you on here had the sleeve and with what sucess, my op is on 6/7 july so not long now,

I have an RNY, but there are several people on here who've had the vertical.  I'm curious, did your surgeon say what his deciding factors would be?  Best of luck!

Hi, I weigh about 500lbs and he said the bigger you are its more akward to get to your bowel, so he said he would do a sleeve but if he got in and could do a bypass he would, I think he prefers the RNY, he is probally the top surgeon in the UK though having done about 1400/1500 op's, at 1st  I would agree with the sleeve but my sister has had aRNY and the transformation in her looks /health and confidence is unbelievable so really whatever I have it can only be for the better, also I have bad case of lymphedema in my right leg and this could be another factor as its 2 times bigger than my left I have my operation in 3no weeks so I'll keep you posted thanx
