Need some suggestions
I am on my 10 day pre-op diet and tomorrow I start all liquids. For the last seven days I have been eating the same things because I was afraid I would eat something I was not supposed to. I either had a hamberger patty made out of 96%lean hamberger or a chicken breast, cottage cheese, & salad. At this point if I did not see any of these foods again it would not bother me. Can you please give me a varity of foods we can eat. My do not eat list is huge. I was reading a couple of posts and saw that some people are eating rice, bread, etc. and on my list it says not to eat those items.
I am having a really rough day I have just wanted to cheat 1 time before I start liquids tomorrow I am having second thoughts because I love to eat and it seems like everything in life revolves around eating. You just cant get away from it like if you smoked or drank. Please keep me in your prayers that I make it till Wednesday. Thank you for all the support.
As the pounds drop your interests change and your life doesn't have to revolve around food so much any more. Hopefully some of your time will be taken up with exercise too.
You can eat a variety of whole grains, proteins such as meats, poultry and seafood, veggies and fruit. These combine into delicious satisfying recipes. Many people enjoy various protein shakes.
Many lose the desire to eat the foods that got us in trouble. I suggest that you focus on the positive parts of what you are doing and try not to dwell on possible pitfalls. It is easier to avoid the trigger food once yo have the tool than it is now. We are her for you during the liquid diet and remember, whining is allowed! Hugs, Loris

Hi Heather,
I don't understand your question (I swear it is the last dose of anthestia). If you are talking about after the surgery your surgical team will give you a list of what you can and can't eat. Please follow what they tell you. I see where people say they eat the things like rice and bread etc. I guess each surgical team does things differently. My team ( I am 2 years post op today) was very specific and very strict. As a result I lost 100 lbs in 2 months. I had alot to lose but I followed in the beginning to the letter. You only have a short honeymoon period, please take full advantage of it. The time will go by quickly, you will start ot lose and food, hopefully, will take on a different tone in your life.
For me personally, I didn't touch bread, pasta or rice for almost 1 year. Focus on the protein, and getting your water in.
I wish you luck with your surgery. I will think of you on Wednesday and send a prayer up to St. Anthony for you.

Is your liquid diet clear liquids? I could have yogurt, pudding and protein shakes for the first 2 of 5 days. So I had yogurt, SF pudding and protein shakes. When I hit the all clears, I did apple juice, grape, cranberry juice, propel, I made LIptons onion soup mix and strained out the onions. I did campbells chicken noodle soup with all the solids strained out. That helped with the hunger.
Certainly SF popsicles for the chewing factor. How about sno cones made with SF syrup. I've been making them with the SF coffee syrups for a more adult brand.
Good luck and post again if you have more questions.
The pre-op diet gets *really* boring the closer that you get to your surgery date. Just stick to it the best that you can and know that it will all be worth it in the end. I know that by the time my surgery arrived I would have been grateful for the dr. just to take my intense hunger pains away. BOY, did that wish come true. Just know that in a few days, you'll wonder how you ever were thinking about this.
Best wishes with your surgery on Wednesday and I hope that you have a quick recovery.
