I'm about 10 weeks out from surgery, and now exercising regularly (every other day at the gym).  I DONT drink caffiene, i went to bed an 1 1/2 ago, and now i'm still wide awake, i need to get up at 4:30am to take my daughter to swim team, and i can't fall asleep.  Is this surgery related?  Also, my CPAP is bothering the $)(*#&$ out of me, it seems that it is now blowing too much air (since i've lost some weight), any ideas?  thanks for listening.  lys

I don't know if its surgery-related, but I definitely have not had that problem.  If anything I've slept too much since surgery.  I lose most of my weight one week of each month, and that week I seem to need 12hrs sleep every night just to function.  I'd suggest talking to your doctor about possibly going with a sleep aid, short term at least.  The cpap pressure might be too high now, you are right.  I've stopped using mine lately for the same reason, I feel like its too much.

I have had major insomnia problems and was told it could be a possible side effect of WLS. I take ambien most nights and wake up 6 or so hours later feeling very refreshed. My husband jokingly told the DR when I complained, that I was just making up for all the years of my life I slept through! She said it could be that since I have more energy my body just doesn't require all the sleep it needed before.
