Big wow for me.
First of all, I have all white on today! But it's a skirt (does have a green fillagree design on it) and a white shirt.
Second, our regional VP came over today and I was in the kitchen making my coffee. We were chatting waiting for my boss to come in to take her on a tour. She looked at me and told me that I've really lost a ton of weight!
Now this comes after a post that I made a couple of months ago about "the image" of hiring someone so fat. That's what my boss was told by her when he hired me. So this is a big wow that she commented that I had lost a ton of weight.
It's weird to work with guys too because they don't make any kind of comments about my losses. Partly because it could be construed as inappropriate. It happens once in a blue moon though and I love it.
But the regional vp comment felt good considering the other situation that happened when my boss hired me. I'm glad he didn't listen to her!

Sorry I'm so late to reply, I'm catching up on several days of posts.
I'm glad that your regional VP paid you a compliment. But I'm SHOCKED to hear of the "the image" comment. Although I'm well aware that people THINK those things, I don't think I've ever heard of someone saying it, and certainly not that information getting back to the person who the comment was about. I'm so sorry you had to experience that. There are so many people who discriminate based on weight, which is sad.
I also work in a male environment and get few comments. Actually all of a sudden the last month, several people have actually been saying things which I've been happy about because I'm not hiding behind anything anymore and I'm proud to tell people I took charge of my life and had surgery. I think you are right on the reason why compliments are few and far between, generally speaking men do not feel that weight is an appropriate topic to have with women.
talk soon!

Oh yes. It didn't come out for 5 1/2 years, but my boss told me that about 4 weeks ago. We had the new director of the Arts Council stop by and she was most definitely over 300 pounds, and I said "I am surprised that she was hired for that position because people usually discriminate against obeese people in high profile positions." That's when my boss told me about the comment. But he said it wasn't a concern for him and I had proven myself. So it helped to diminish the blow as far as I was concerned
