I need to grocery shop.  My food choices are pretty limited.  I forgot to tell you a GROSS story.  The queasy should stop reading now.  Tuesday we climbed into the hot car and it smelled HORRIBLE.  We looked all around the back seat and floor to try and find where it was coming from, but the car was pretty clean.  (It gathers a lot of junk mail but we are usually good about keeping it clean besides that).  We drove with the windows open and it was a little better... We checked to see if we'd hit something and it was stuck to the car or something, but nope.  So we cleaned it out and hoped for the best - there was a starbucks cup that I thought maybe had a little leftover sour milk or something, so we blamed the smell on that. Tuesday night I went to the fridge to get Ryan's steak for marinating.... no steak in the fridge.  I know we bought a steak.  Ummm, Ryan, I think I know what the smell is.  Go look in the trunk for your steak... it had been in there since Sunday night.  We didn't look in the trunk because there is never anything in our trunk.  I don't know why it didn't occur to us to look in the trunk, but yeah.  Nasty.  It was still in the grocery bag, so he just threw the whole thing away.  Nothing leaked thank goodness, and the car smells fine now, after a few hours with the windows and trunk open.  He doesn't plan to eat steak anytime soon.  So, still hungry?  I don't have a meal plan yet, but I'll be drinking a lot of milk I think, 100g of protein was a lot easier before 100g of protein was my goal.  Now I can't seem to do it without at least 1, usually 2 glasses of mootopia (60g of protein right there).  Good thing I like milk.

My sister has done that a couple of times, forgotten to take a bag of groceries out of the car.  Ugh.  Nothing like old, gross food percolating in an enclosed car trunk.  I haven't done that yet, I'm more apt to leave a stray bag of food in the bottom of the shopping cart.  More later on the food intake!  Kix

I crinkle my nose in the general direction of your stuff - hot, funky steak?  Eeewww.  We occasionally "lose" things in our refrigerator that funk up the entire kitchen - usually a pretty disgusting find that results in something being throw away container and all.  I especially enjoy finding liquified lettuce or cucumbers in the veggie drawyer - yuck.  Glad your mess was contained in a bag so it didn't permanantly funk up your trunk!!!   I'm heading for day 4 of sticking with my regular food plan.  I've managed to drop the 10 pounds I regained while on vacation, plus another 4-5 pounds.  I decided I was tired of puttering around trying to get down to 175-180 and I was going to make one final push to see if my body is willing to go there.  If so, that's great.  If not, I'll work to maintain between 185-190 until plastics, which I'm hoping to have in early 2009.  I've really comfortable eating 2000-2200 calories a day (my average daily calorie intake had crept up to 2600-2800 over the past three months), so we'll see where my body goes when I take in that number of calories pretty consistently.  Along those lines, here's the details about what's on my plate Thursday:

Breakfast:  1 c. 1% milk in my coffee, 1 packet Quaker Weight Control oatmeal

Snack #1:  1 c. low-fat cottage cheese, 4 tbsp. SF preserves, 2 large, diced strawberries

Snack #2:  medium banana

[workout #1:  upper body strength training]

Lunch:  Lean Cuisine herb roasted chicken, 6 oz. Breyer's light yogurt, small nectarine

Snack #2:  1 c. Dannon light & fit vanilla yogurt, 1/4 c. Bob's Red Mill Mueslix, 2 large, diced strawberries

Snack #3:  1 slice whole-grain bread, 3 slices smoked turkey, 1 slice low-fat cheese

[workout #2:  60 minutes of cardio]

Snack #4:  post-workout apple

Dinner:  maybe WW SmartOnes mac & cheese w/ a couple Bob Evans ham slices - may eat something different if my girlfriend cooks, but no definite plans for now

Snack #5:  2 sugarfree fudgesicles

Total calories: 2078

Yucko! I have two stinky car stories - one was leftover fish left under the seat and not found for a week, the other was a loose Easter Egg that wasn't found for months until someone vacuuming the car hit it and it broke open ... nasty!  Both were terrible odors that seemed to permeate the cars but one trick to get rid of smells - open a 5 pound can of coffee, slice an apple and place on top of the open coffee, then place in car overnight with windows rolled up. Takes the smell out totally. Learned this the hard way! Pre B - SF NF Brown Sugar Cinnamon Latte B - cheese, ham, 3 RF Triscuits, banana S - Greek yogurt w/berries L - homemade turkey chili S - cheese and grapes D - Rotel chicken that wasn't cooked last night (we went out instead) S - mango slices

Hey, Jan, what's Rotel chicken?  I used to make a dip with Rotel tomatoes and Velveeta cheese that was yummy with tortilla chips.  I did a quick google search for rotel chicken, but all the recipes that came back looked pretty high in fat/calories.  If you have a chance, can you send me your recipe or post it?  I love the season in the Rotel tomatoes, so am thinking I'd like it with chicken, but am not sure what else to add.   Thanks in advance for sharing (she says, hopeful...) Hi Kellie, Here's how I make it -  3-4 boneless skinless chicken breasts, diced in bite size pieces 2 cans Rotel tomatoes, as mild or hot as you prefer sliced mushrooms, if desired LF Mozzerella cheese Brown chicken breasts in a tiny bit of olive oil. Pour Rotel's over chicken, cover and simmer for 30 minutes.  Top with sliced mushrooms and cheese and coo****il some juice had cooked off and cheese has melted. I serve over rice for hubby.

Thanks, Jan, this sounds delicious!  I'll give it a try soon - always looking for something different (my house gets stuck in some pretty serious food ruts)!!!!  Thanks again -  Kellie

Food ruts? I think I'm the Queen of rood ruts! If you already like Rotel's you'll love this, easy and the chicken comes out very tender. Anytime!

Nothing like aged steak.  The big steakhouses charge big bucks for that stuff! I think everyone has had a left over grocery bag story to tell.  Mine was lebanon bologna.  If you've never tried it, it's got an unusual flavor and smell that I just love.  Same old story that something was stinking and I couldn't figure it out.  Yummy when I found it.  Especially down here, in the summer, in the hot car! Today's been good so far... B- SBD protein bar L- broiled flounder, a few bites of salad, 1 piece of bread, 1 broccoli floret S- granny smith apple sauce D- Butterball turkey kielbasa with peppers and onions (we ate at sonny's last night)
