OT: Whole lake disappeared

I live in Wisconsin where we had all the storms, tornadoes and floods since the weekend.  Yesterday I saw something I've never seen - a whole lake drained - just like a bathtub.  The dam held up on Lake Delton so the water found another path and created it's own "river".  It took out 3 houses.  The contents of the lake drained right into a river nearby and is now empty.  One video shows a whole 2 story house bobbing down the "river", followed by the owner's boat.   Our old condo on another part of town is under water and there is more rain.  It turned out to be a good thing that the city main back up into our basement 1 1/2 weeks ago because the city got it cleared out.  Had that not happened, we would have filled our basement with water with all the rain.   I guess my underlying sentiment is that I feel extremely grateful right now.  There are so many people around here that have lost everything.  It is so sad and overwhelming. What are you grateful for today? -Dawn

Hi Dawn, I saw that house go on the news last night.  It's really sad to see.  Back in 1993 Valmeyer, IL had to completely rebuild the whole town up on higher ground.  The whole town was flooded and one house was watched from a helicopter tv crew as it was breaking away from the foundation and floated away with the water.  The town is just south of here and that home was in the family for generations.  The power of water is unbelievable.  It truly is overwhelming.  They set up FEMA trailers all over our town to house the people until they rebuilt their town.  Their new town up on higher ground turned out really really nice.  Hopefully things will turn out for the recent flood victims by you.
