Marge usually "hosts" our Monday weigh-in post, but I think her computer is still on the fritz.  So I'll get things started for this week, and hope that Marge is able to resume her duties soon - we miss her!!!  Here's my numbers for the week: Starting weight:  396 Surgery weight:  386 Last week:  196.3 Today:  190.3 I busted my butt last week to lose what I'd regained while on vacation.  I worked out twice a day several days, and over the weekend I did a lot of yard work, plus helped a friend move.  Finally, it's been super hot here (90+ degrees), so I've been drinking a lot more to make sure I stay hydrated.  Lesson learned = do the right things and I can still lose weight without feeling hungry all the time!!!  What an amazing tool we've been given!!! Who's next??? Kellie

I had a nice weekend.  My sister and I went to see "Kung Fu Panda" yesterday, and I enjoyed in more than I thought I would (feral children and feral parents aside).  There is one quote from the movie that I particuarly enjoyed:  "The past is history, the future is a surprise.  Today is a gift, that's why it's called the present." Beginning weight: 530 lb Surgery weight: 407 lb Last week: 230 lb This week: 225 lb Kix

Glad you had a nice weekend, Kix, and thanks for the review of "Kung Fu Panda."  I want to see it and appreciate your thumbs up!  Hate to pay movie-theater price and be disappointed.  I love the quote - what a great sentiment.   Congrats on the 5-pound post-vacation loss.  Can you tell a difference in how you feel and how your clothes fit?  I think it's funny that when I weighed almost 400 pounds, I could gain or lose 10-20 pounds and not notice a thing.  These days I can tell if I've gained even 4-5 pounds.  Funny how things change, eh?   Anyway, kudos again on the loss - keep up the great work!!!  Watch out 180, here she comes Kellie

I actually screwed up the quote, so I'm posting it again to make sure I give it proper due:  "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery.  Today is a gift, that's why it's called the present." I do feel a bit thinner, oddly enough.  Hard to believe 5 lbs makes a difference.  It's the activity level, I need to keep this raggedy body moving and burning calories, plus staying away from bread.  So far, so good. Kix

Congrats on your loss this week, Estelle - any week that's lower than the week before is a victory in my eyes!   My honest motivation for the quasi-crazy amount of time I spend exercising?  Honestly?  It's because I still love food and I still love to eat, and by exercising as much as I do, I can eat 2000-2400 calories most days and either maintain or lose a little.  When I read posts by long-term post-ops (2-3+ years) who say they are still only eating 1100-1200 calories a day, I cringe.  I can't imagine eating that little forever.  No way, not this girl.   The other thing that really motivates me is that I am inexorably fascinated by my body's ability to change in response to exercise.  My resting heart rate runs between 48-54.  Before surgery my resting heart rate was 75-85.  I have good muscle definition in my upper body, although it's hard to see w/ all the excess skin.  I have great muscles in my lower body, especially my quads.  I can lift heavy things without injuring myself.  I can go, go, go all day and still have energy left at the end of the day.  It just fascinates me that a body that could barely walk up a flight of stairs 2 1/2 years ago can now do 60 flights on the stairmaster, and then do another 20 minutes of cardio on a rowing machine.   I'm also fortunate that I have the time to spend exercising as much as I do, since I do not have kids, and my significant others are pretty self-sufficient.  So I can afford to spend 8-10 hours a week at the gym, and I do.  Lastly, I've got what I think of a functional level of OCB (obsessive compulsive disorder), so I really like routines, and once I'm in a routine it's easier to maintain than to change it.  So that helps with the exercise thing.  We all have to find what works for us, and this happens to work for me!   Enjoy the time with your sister and nieces - camping sounds great!!!  I look forward to good stories when you get back -  Kellie
