Curves - any opinions?

I have been a member of Curves since November of last year, and I do love it.  Up until recently I was one of their biggest and most vocal supporters!  However, last week I had a terrible experience there. (read about it at http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/ON/a,messageboard/action,r eplies/board_id,5450/cat_id,5050/topic_id,3630695/ ) In any event, I just went back today and it was very uncomfortable for me, but I will not give up.  I will just have to get used to the fact that I probably won't ever feel the same way about it. My doctor seems to think I should move on from Curves now that I am in considerably better physical condition, and I may consider doing that.  I have always wanted to be a runner, and I may look into that.  The only time that would be a problem is during the winter.  Oh well. Anyway, as I said, I do love Curves.  I can't hurt to check it out!  Good luck!  (And be sure to use the Smart program...it gives you a much better workout!)

I had a year long membership at Curves and I loved it! I never had to wait on anyone to get on the machine I liked. Plus the women working there had curves of their own, which made me feel more comfortable. The only reason I ended my membership was because of their hours of operation. I need to go to a gym that is open 24/7.

I tried Curves once on a January special.  It was great, but after a week I'd racked up one of my knees and it wasn't right for three months.  Also, I found some of the equipment difficult to get in and out of, especially in the 30 second time frame. Having said that, I loved the early hours.  I would take a shower at home afterwards before going to work, so it was OK that they didn't have one. Why the sam hill doesn't someone start a fat friendly Curves like operation?
