Hey y'all! My name is Mia and I guess you can consider this my intro to OH's forums. I have been lurking for the past week or so. I wanted to introduce myself to everyone on this board.   I like what I am reading so far. I haven't had surgery yet, but right now just weighing my options. Right now I am thinking about the DS, but also very interested in the Sleeve. However my insurance doesn't cover the Sleeve :( I hope to make new friends here. I am so impressed with everyone's success here on OH. It's truly inspiring and I know it will serve as motivation to keep me on track during this journey.

Sorry for my lack of pics too. OH always gives me an error message when I try to upload them.

It's called shrinkpictures.com      works really good.  I think our avatars have to be below 20kb for them to be uploaded.

Hello...nice to see another DSer on this board.  I am in process with the DS here in Minnesota.  I have my second appointment with my NUTin June and then my third in July.  After that they will submit for approval from my insurance company.   Have you found a true DS surgeon yet and gone to a seminar?  if not check out a listing of DS surgeons on duodenalswitch.com.  Have you checked out the DS forum?  I come on both of these forums for two types of support and both places are wonderful.  If you have any questions let me know....i am happy to share anything I can as a pre-op.  Hope to get to know you better. Jennifer

I have found a DS surgeon here in NC, but I haven't attended his seminar yet. I recently changed prospective surgeons so I am starting fresh. I was considering the DS about four years ago, but decided not to do it. I actually had a psych evaluation and everything done through the other  surgeons' office. All of those appointments just so I could back out  I am determined to do this now. I have been doing a lot of research through this site and others. So I know the information is here and a great support system as well. I thank all of you for your responses! I feel at home. :D ...now back to my attempt to post pics....

Welcome Mia!  I hope that you have a pleasant journey to selecting the type of surgery you want and the surgeon to do it.  Take your time, and make sure that you choose the surgery team that you feel most comfortable with.  In particular, pay attention to the nutritionists and scheduling staff since you will interact with them most of all!
