My vacation is officially over, so it's back to the exercise routine!

I plan to go to the rec center for 20-30 minutes of cardio, plus my strength training.  Afterwards, I'll run errands and then return to the gym (if I'm not suffering from overdoing it) for another session of cardio.

What fun things will you do to move your body today?

Good Morning Kix! The heat is a killer here this week.... the heat index has already made it over 100 more than once and there's no let up in sight.....  I'm so glad I get my exercise done and out of the way EARLY in the day or I'm a feared it'd never get done.... I did 30 mins on the elliptical again and then 20 mins on the upper body weight machines...... This afternoon I have errands to run but that's it... thank goodness... LOL Have a great day!

It was quite cool up in South Dakota, so we had a bit of a jolt when we returned to CO and 90 degree weather.  It's muggy, too. Not Texas muggy, you'd think we were wimps, but it's muggy enough to moan about! You are quite smart to get your exercise out of the way EARLY.  I need to think about doing that because it's easy to find reasons not to go.  Your workout sounds pretty good, and now you've earned a restful evening in an air conditioned house! Did 30 minutes on the treadmill with a 7.5 incline half the way and a 5 incline the rest of the way at 2.5 MPH. Also did 10 minutes on the cross trainer at a level six and hit 1000 steps.  I like that machine for a change.  It's like a stairmaster, but you sit on your butt and push with both your arms and legs.   I have a support group meeting tonight.  I love those because everyone hasn't seen you for a month and you get all the kudos!

Whew, you did a lot!  I'm tired just reading it, which means I'm getting out of shape.  Keep up the excellent work! Kix

I've walked and taken stairs so much in the last 3 days that I think my legs are going to fall off.  I am getting plenty of exercise!  I'll be curious to see the scale when I get home.  We toured Fenway Park today and it was a hell of a lot of exercise.  A year ago I would have been dead.

My sister and I visited Boston in 1987 (I was attending a conference and she was along for the free hotel room).  We had a full day to kill before my meetings and so we spent the entire day walking around Boston (I weighed around 340 then).  We had a great time, but the next day I was so sore I could barely get out of bed to attend my meetings.

Did you follow the "yellow brick road" (the yellow line around all the historic spots?  Glad to hear you enjoyed Fenway!

Have you succumbed to vacation eating like the rest of us who went out of town?

No, I'm doing relatively ok on the eating.  My husband has succumbed to vacation eating though!  He found this reuben he keeps talking about.  It was enormous.  Today I had the egg and cheese from a sandwich, then a glass of milk a little later.  For lunch I had some grilled chicken skewers from the Cask and Flagon at Fenway (our game is tomorrow but I will be in meetings all day so we took the tour today).  Then I had a fiber one bar when we got back to the hotel, and for dinner a salad with chicken, black beans, avocado, tomato and cheese.  For dessert I had some sugar free dark chocolate from the Godiva store and a latte.  So yeah I am eating more, but they are relatively ok choices.  We've pretty much done a late breakfast and dinner, and then an evening snack - today was probably the worst I've eaten.  We did not follow the Freedom Trail.  We've done some museums and a ton of walking, and we took a boat tour down the Charles River at sunset last night.  We aren't going to have time to do all of the things we wanted (USS Constitution, Freedom Trail, Quincy market), but we have had fun.  We were going to Quincy market this evening but we decided to cop out because we are too tired, plus I need to prepare for my poster presentation tomorrow.  I like Boston, and the people are a lot nicer than I expected.  Everyone has been helpful and pleasant.  Just don't drive.  Take the rail.

I've been MIA lately - have been gone every weekend and I'm still not feeling great. But I'm trying to get back into a schedule, so I'm dutifully here, reporting on what I'm doing (not much lately - the medicine they gave me for my sinus infection has caused some major stomach problems and I couldn't do anything the past couple of weeks) It's been 2 weeks since I last ran, so I thought today would be a good day to get out there. It sucked - I was tired and dragging and just had no energy.  I ran 3 miles, but only 2.5 of it continuously - the .5 was done sporadically and slowly. I can't believe I've lost that much fitness in just a couple of weeks. And I have a race this weekend, so I'm a little concerned. I'm off to skulk and be depressed - I wish I could snap my fingers and feel better but whatever it is is not letting go easily. After this weekend there are no more races for a couple of months, so I'm going to take that time to get back to basics and do some resting. Oh yeah, welcome back . My little selfish rant is done and I'm glad you are home and had a great time!

<>Poor thing, I had no idea you were in such bad shape! (HUG). Being on antibiotics for a long time sucks, especially if they don't work right away. Are you taking acidophilus supplements daily?  It will replenish the good bacteria in your gut and hopefully alleviate some of those nasty GI problems.

Since you weren't feeling well, does this mean you were unable to run the Bolder Boulder?  I was curious to hear how it went.

It amazes me how easily one's fitness level can drop.  I took a few days off prior to leaving town and didn't do formal exercise while away.  When I went to the gym today, I was only able to do 25 minutes of fat burning routine on the treadmill before I ran out of steam.  I need to get back to a daily routine because this is just ridiculous!

Rest up!  Oh, and we met two sets of vacationers from your part of town (well, one family was from the Springs and the old gay couple were from Manitou Springs).
