I think I'm broken...
Ok Girls, here is the deal... I weighed myself yesterday. Not one of my happier moments. It seems that in the 4 days since surgery I have gained 14 pounds by the hospital scale. It was 10 lbs under my scale. Am I the one person surgery doesn't work for?? I am eating 500 calories a day and STILL gaining weight....GRRRR
well it sounds like the hospital scale andyour scale are different...or they weigh you differently is all....but I would not worry for 2 weeks after surgery because you are healing and the body retains alot of water after surgery....for starters they pump you full in the hospital the only way to get all that etra water out of your system is to drink alot of water and flu**** out....you have not really gained weight :) I know its hard but right now just try to concentrate on feeling better you will lose right away you won't be able to help that! :)
Good Luck sweetie :)

Oh, you aren't broken, just healing. The first 3-4 months are like an emotional rollercoaster. Did I do the right thing? Why am I not losing? Why am I not losing faster? What did I do to myself? I can't eat what I want to eat!
I actually mourned my relationship with food for the first month. I cried because my old comfort, eating fast food while I was out shopping, I could no longer do! It was a huge realization for me.
I saw people on my surgeon's board post they'd lost 20-30 pounds at their 10 day checkup and I was at 16! I was so mad. I actually was up 7 pounds the first week. But believe me, it will get better and better, and better, and better...you get the picture.
Just follow your surgeon's rules. Do your best these first few weeks to get your fluids first. Then work on your protein. Fluids are the most important as your body begins this healing process. Your body can live on your fat but definitely needs water.
You are going to be just fine!
Let me add my 2 cents worth here...I am only 20 days ahead of you and when I first came home from the hospital I knew that I had gained weight from the fluids they gave me in the hospital. The place where they had my IV had was "swollen" due to the fluids for almost a full 2 weeks after. I had a doctor follow up less than 2 weeks after my surgery and only lost 6 pounds! However, I know that I lost more weight than that because I had retained fluids.
I still haven't lost much - maybe 13 additional pounds but I just keep telling myself that I know I am not "cheating" so eventually I will lose weight. It may just take some time - even though I am a heavy weight I am sure it will come off.
Hang in there!

Sweetie, they pump you full of fluid - most people come back from the hospital heavier. It'll get peed out once your swelling goes down more and you are getting in more fluids.
In all kindness you need to drop your scales off at the neighbors and only weigh at your doctor's office until after your three months check up. Come straight home and compare the two scales in the same clothes. You may need a new scale if it is ten pounds different. After that you should weigh ever week or even once a month. You will lose weight. I promise. Hugs, Loris

Hi Ladies!
I just want to say that I'm so happy to read all of these kind posts on here. I'm going to my first seminar on Wednesday and can't wait to finally start my journey. It's been back and forth in my mind for over a year and finally my dh is on board with it. Just to know that you are all here to help is so awesome! Then after I go through it I can help others!
God Bless!
