Sores on the corner of my mouth

Hmmm - I was wondering if anyone else has this problem.  The last time I had it was right before my trip last summer, and lo and behold I've got it again - these dry cracked sores start on the corner of my mouth.  Its not fever blisters, it has a specific name and multiple causes, but my mom calls them vegetable sores because when she got them her mom made her eat leafy greens and they went away. It can be iron deficiency, folate deficiency, B-12 deficiency, riboflavin deficiency.... hmm sounds like problems we post-ops have, right?  It can also be because you drool at night.  Once you have cracks or sores, yeast and bacteria can move in and make blisters.  I've gotten them, mostly when it turns hot, nearly every year for as long as I can remember.  In college it covered my entire chin on one side and I had to use steroid creams - and as soon as I'd stop it would come back.  So I'm just wondering, does anyone else have this problem?  And why does it happen to me whenever I am about to travel aaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!  Any home remedies?  I usually use miconozole and neosporin but I'm not sure if it really helps.

Oh and it can also be related to dehydration, which is probably my problem since I usually get them when it gets hot and I've been a touch dehydrated lately (working on it).

My answer to anything dry/sore lips related is Carmex - but what you have may be a little advanced for my old standby.  I love the tingly feeling it gives my lips!

MIne aren't cracked, but they are noticeably dry now that you pointed it out.  BTW, my left foot is swollen and tight so I know I'm retaining water and that also explains my 7 pound gain from last week.   Considering my current conditions, I would venture to say drink, drink, drink.  Especially if you are going to be flying next week.  Boston is going to be soooooo pretty this time of year.  I hope it's still a little cool for you.

Well, I'm just north of Boston here in Vermont, and I'll tell you -- we had a frost Wednesday night. It is definitly still cool!!! Jenn -- I'm going to Boston this weekend... I wish I had planned it better - we could have met up and had a coffee (or tea) together... if you feel like visiting while you're up here, we have plenty of room :) Valerie

I just read this and thought of this post Jenn -
Vitamin B2 riboflavin Deficiency causes ariboflavinosis. Symptoms may include cheilosis (cracks in the lips),
Then again rereading this I see you already know that one.  Just thinking of you. ;)  Hope your having a great time!
