I slept for a loooooong time, I needed it, hubby needed it.  We've been up to 4am regularly lately.  It caught up with me.  Well yesterday I made really good choices all day, got a ton of protein and fiber (and a few more calories than usual, about 1400 total) but then last night I had a couple of swallows of husband's chocolate shake.  It so wasn't worth the dump that ensued.  The worst dump ever, I felt so so so so bad.  I solemnly swear to never eat ice cream again.  What about you?  What are you eating?

What is mootopia?  And, you mentioned previously that you never did the protein shakes.  How did you get your protein in early on?  I am struggling with the shakes - just 4 ozs a day for the past three days.  Not good!  I am still on clear liquids until Friday, but I still see this as a struggle even after Friday.  Argh!

Its milk, but unfortunately it isn't widely available - its a lactose free milk (2%, skim, or chocolate) with extra protein and calcium (14g per 8oz instead of about 8).  Its available at HEB, which there are a few in LA I believe, but its mostly a Texas chain.  I didn't know about it early on.  I got a lot of my protein from cheese - cottage cheese and string cheese, and milk with nsa carnation instant breakfast.  And soy milk mixed with chai over ice.  A lot of that.  I didn't come close to 60g until at least a month out, and it probably was 6-8 weeks out before I consistently got to 60g.  I also had a second surgery and a second round of full liquids though.  All I can suggest is to do the best you can.  It does get easier once your pouch isn't so swollen.  I found getting a lot of my protein and calories from liquids was the easiest at first because I also got some fluid in me at the same time.  Plus I had zip zero zilch desire to eat.  I forced myself to eat peanut butter and avocado for the calories, oddly enough.  My doc didn't want me dropping below 600 calories per day, and that was a struggle sometimes.  Avocado was one of the first things I liked, then beans.  Good luck, and I hope by chance that you do have HEB nearby.  Mootopia makes life easier.

Sleep = good.  4 a.m. = ugh.   I can have a little ice cream, but too much makes me dump.  Ice cream is one of my trigger foods, so the dumping is truly a blessing.  I have found several sugar-free or reduced-sugar ice creams that I like, but I try not to buy them too often.  I do much better with my sugar-free fudgesicles - tasty, frozen, chocolatery, but only 40 calories apiece.   I leave for vacation tomorrow, so won't be posting for about a week.  I'll try to pop in if they have free internet access set up at the convention.  Otherwise, I'll "talk" to you next week!

Breakfast:  1 cup 1% milk in my coffee, 1 packet Quaker Weight Control Oatmeal

Snack #1:  1 cup low-fat cottage cheese, 4 tbsp. sugar-free preserves, 1/2 c. sliced strawberries

Snack #2:  1 medium banana [workout:  1 hour of cardio yoga]

Lunch:  1 whole-wheat pita, homemade crab salad (leftover king crab, finely diced celery, 1 tbsp. light mayo, 1 tbsp. sour cream, garlic powder, black pepper, dill, lemon juice), small apple

Snack #2:  6 oz. Breyer's Light yogurt, 1/4 c. Kashi granola, 1/2 c. sliced strawberries, a few blueberries too

Snack #3:  1 slice whole-grain bread, 3 slices turkey breast, 1 slice low-fat cheese, alfalfa sprouts

Dinner:  8 oz. broiled bacon-wrapped sirloin filet (probably will not be able to eat the whole thing), steamed veggies

Snack #5:  2 sugar-free fudgesicles

Total calories: 1939
Carbs:  219.3
Fats:  63.4
Fiber:  31.1
Protein:  143.3
Today's weight:  188.9

Yesterday must have been the bad eating day for us.  I ate my sauerkraut & spare ribs for dinner and then about 1/2 hour later ate SF caramel pudding.  My stomach started to revolt.  Cramps, cramps, cramps.  I went and laid down and my husband said I was out at 8PM and I slept until this morning @ 7:30.  I couldn't work out again because me have car issues. So not sure if it was the sauerkraut or the fat in the ribs but that was enough for another 7 years for me of that stuff (I haven't had it since my mom died). Today is a better day! B- SB diet cereal bar L - another SB diet orange beef D- sauteed grouper with yellow and zucchini squash, cilantro, onions & garlic S- pudding?   Calories   850 Protein 65 ish Hoping to get my exercise in today!  I am missing it dearly!

Yep it must have been our turn to make not so smart food choices yesterday.  I was really hungry all day (which was a change from how its been lately) but I so should have not let my body tell my brain what to do LOL because that shake gave me the shakes... tremors to where I couldn't trust myself to stand up.  My heart was ready to leave my chest it was pounding so hard.  I had horrible cramps and couldn't catch my breath.  As miserable as it was, I guess I am thankful that my body revolted and put me in my place.  On the upside, I slept like the dead - for about 12 hours also.  Who needs sleeping pills, just have some ice cream.
