I am five weeks out and my food plan says I can start eating raw lettuce. How did you do with salads? What is your favorite dressing? Did it make you sick?

I wasn't released to eat salad until much later in my journey. I don't think I  could eat salad for about 1 year. Follow the plan you've been given.... your doctor's and nutritionist's orders take precedence over any others...

Keep dressings low fat and low sugar like Walden Farms calorie free/ or sugar free dressings or the 1 calorie per pump spray on type.  I could have salads within a month, but I'm still leary of regular dressings due to the fats, sugars and of course high calories.

I was cleared to eat salad after 6 months and did very well with them.  That was actually my meal of choice when I went out.  Just like the other posters, I would stick with low-cal dressings or vinaigrette and avoid a lot of toppings just in case something doesn't agree with you...you can isolate it.

I was told that I had to wait a minimum of 3mos PostOp for salad. I have to use low-fat dressing or I dump.
