 Dready,

THanks for this post. I know next to nothing about make up and need orientation badly. When I use, I do use mac and I have gone and had them "beat" my face on two special occasions. These suggestions have been helpful and inspiring.

Youtube!  Great people on there doing tutorials.

I recommend make up geek, julieg713, lollipop26, renren, tiffanyd, and scandalousbeauty.  Everyone is caucasian, except for the last one.  I think all are better artists than the scandalous beauty, but I like her because she's a brown girl and gives great color recommendations.

I totally agree with Sharon, it truly is about brushes and blending.

two must haves for the eye are the 239 (lid) and a blending brush they make several different ones like 224, or 226 just depends on your preference and your eye.  For example, even though it works just fine I find the 224 too big and floppy for my eye  cause my lid is small, so I prefer the one smaller stiffer bristles.  But MAC brushes are definitely the bomb and definitely worth the investment.

Also, it's not MAC, but I HIGHLY recommend two faced shadow insurance.  It is an absolute MUST.  It's a primer that will keep your shadow from crasing and it stays put all day.  It also helps the color pop IMO.

** ETA renren is asian, but she also gives brown girl tips.

It is never too late to be what you might have been

Wow!!! Thanks so much for the shout out!! I feel truly honored.

Here are a few tips that I think may help: I know u asked abut MAC but I thought I'd share some other great brands as well.

#1. Always wear face and eyeshadow primer it helps to keep your foundation and eyeshadows on all day without smearing and creasing. The best in my opinion are: face primer, Smashbox photo finish foundation, eyeshadow primer : Urban Decays Primer Potion and Too Faced Shadow insurance.

#2. Here are a few MAC eyeshadow colors I think will compliment your NW55 skintone:
amber lights,     woodwinked,  bamboo,   handwritten, saddle, soba, coppering, naked lunch nylon ok i'll stop here I could go on and on. Also try to buy the pro pans they are cheaper 11.00 and if you get the large palette that holds 15 shadows as ou build your collection it can hold the eyeshadows in one place.

#3. In vest in quality brushes, my favorite by far is MAC because they wash well and hold up for years. They can be pretty pricey but well worth the money. If your not ready to shell out 25- 60 bucks for a single brush. You can always try your local C****osmetic company outlet) at your local outlet mall and they have MAC products at a great discount or There is a company called Sigma Makeup and they make exact duplicates to mac brushes. Here is the websitehttp://sigmamakeup.com/p01.html. To get great blended eyeshadow I recommend the following brushes  224 blending , 239 lid, and 217

OK i have bored you enough but I could talk makeup for days. If you want you can check out my blog. www.slvrlipsbmhaven.blogspot.com there I discuss products and show looks of different makeup I've done.

Hope this helps

I am a MAC lover. I went to the counter one day and one of the workers there made up my face and I have been hooked ever since. I wind up buying their whole set of brushes, I wear select cover up NC45, select sheer press compact NC55, and i love their trio mineralize eye shadow, eye brow pencil and their shadows are awesome. The most expensive thing was their brushes. It's all about blending. Go to the MAC counter and let them do your face you will probably walk out like I did $400 less in your pocket but you are gonna look good this was my Christmas gift to myself. Another thing about MAC is that it lasts all day. I think you get something free if you bring back the empty containers (but not sure) I was too busy buying everything she used on me.
