I had my ultrasound and it showed multiple nodules in my thyroid.  There was one on the right side that is three times the size of a normal thyroid.  As I said earlier I work in Radiology and the Radiologist spoke to me telling me that I had to have a biopsy because of the size of the nodule, but there does not seem to be any signs of cancerous cells. I am going to talk to my surgeon in the morning and fax him a copy of my report, because I don't want a biopsy now, be put on meds and the revisit this at a later date. I would rather have my thyroid removed and spend the next three months getting regulated. I will know early next week what all of my options are. Keep me in your prayers.

Hey there lady!!  I didn't have to have a biopsy done.  My endocrinologist said it would just prolong the fact that surgery was needed and he didn't want me to go through something like that.  They can test what they remove and if they don't suspect any cancerous cells I would just leave well enough alone but that's just me.  I don't need or want anyone cutting on me when they don't have to.  You will work all of this out and be just fine.  My scar is not even noticed by most folk even when they are close up.

I had my appointment with an ENT and I had a biopsy and he checked to make sure that my vocal cords were ok. He told me that I would definetly have to have surgery. The nodule on the right will have to be removed and if the results of the biopsy dictate then I will have to get the entire thyroid removed. I really tried to push for him to remove the entire organ since surgery is a definite. I will know more on the 26th. I am just ready to put this behind me.

My thyroid is not easy seen but you can feel it and sometime I feel as though someone is chocking me. I'm always cold even before surgery now it worst.  I go to church in the summer in 2-piece suits now and have to have a jacket. Mood swing really  and tired all the time  and on the top of have fibromyagia it is no joke.  I'm so sensative to the sounds it drive me crazy.  Hope your tests comes out alright.

Its funny how life works, I begged my primary to find out if anything was wrong with my thyroid.   When I had the ultrasound done, I thought for sure I would hear ....YOU ARE FINE.  But that wasn't the case my doc referred me to an ENT, who sent me for a biopsy.  I waited patiently for the pathologist to get a good sample, that was so annoyingly painful!  I remember getting that done before my trip to Bahamas and my Bday.  Lets just say my neck was sore!  When I got back I heard from the doc that I had to get them removed...Nodules and it was more than likely a good idea to get the thyroid removed....WHAT.  Then I met Dr. Thome, he was my 2nd opinion, and he told it to me straight.  "Take it out!".  The only complaint I have is that finding your right levels with Synthroid is a B****H, oh yeah and the scar on my neck, that gets on my nerves.  Thank God for family and friends, they helped me through it!  Definitely do what you have to do to keep yourself healthy!  Also congrats on you amazing weight loss!  Please keep us posted.
God Bless,
Layla
