Whether big or small I hate to have something make me feel like I cannot breathe...If you wear spanx and/or something similar or have tried spanx before how is it and is the difference significant...I plan on going to Macy's this weekend to but something and just looking for insight.

I have purchased Spanx- high powered panty before surgery but ,I really couldn't tell the difference and was not sure because it was uncomfortable and kept rolling down..lol. I must not have purchased the right size or might not have been wearing it right. Haven't tried  wearing it again since having surgery.

However, I recently purchased some Maidenform body shapers from Marshall's and I love them it holds in my stomach and is not very tight or constricting. The one's I have purchased looks like a tank top and came in various basic colors (black, beige & white).

Spanx is OK, but to me it's kinda overpriced.  It's basically like wearing a double layer of support hose.   Target carries a brand of support wear called Assets that is similar and costs a lot less.

And FYI, those Assets are made by the same lady who makes Spanx, so they are really the exact same thing.

I wear Spanx everyday, but I get them from SteinMart, for half price.  I swear by them.

I have a few different Spanx.  The ones that I love although are my nemisis are the biker short ones that are very high waisted.  It sucks and tucks everything--smoothness where there was ripples before.

They are a workout to get on, breathing is *interesting* and you can give up trying to eat very much during wear.  But they work miracles!

GorgeousIsa;

Have 3-4 body shapers. I do own a Spanx I bought from marshalls they too roll down but they hold the twins (my thighs) nicely.   Most of the new body shapers; Spanxs or even The Avenue brands are pretty comfortable to wear.  But if you are looking for smooth look under your clothes it doesn't hurt to get 1 or 2 of them.

I'm going to Vegas in August I WILL not be bringing them to Vegas! Too damn hot for some thigh control!

Spanx is not as tight as the Dr. Ray at all,but if your just looking for simply shaping and holding back a little jiggle I like the Terri Toner from HSN they come in a two pack I have also purchased the assests from target as well as spanx i wear shapers every day top and bottom...LOL I even own the arm shapers by Dr. Ray!

I wear Hanes Smooth Illusions.  They are much reasonable than Spanx.  I also like them better than Spanx.  They are not uncomfortable at all if you get the right size.  The material is soft and they definitely make your clothes look better.  They do sale them at Macy's, but I have found them in marshalls alot cheaper.  JCPennys  always have them on sale.

The Assest from Target are wonderful. I wear them everyday and they are very comfortable.

I actually just wore my first spanx 2 weekends ago. I brought mine from lane bryant (I had some real woman dollars and since I can't get the clothes why not spanx or accessories) anyway I LOVE IT!!!  I swear you could NOT see the bulge in my stomach ( i have a big bulge). My stomach was smooth.. IT wasn't tight on me or anything and I could breathe just fine.
