I went with the VSG due to the doctors advice and with research. I ended up having to have a revision to RNY due to severe GERD.

I decided on having the RNY gastric bypass because my research showed longterm success with the surgery and so far so good!

RNY because it's still the gold standard and everyone i knew who had a sleeve either didn't lose all their weight or gained it back

I had VSG because the doctor I selected is an expert on performing that procedure and he was recommended to me by a family member. And he had great reviews which was very important to me.

I had the RNY. At first I wanted the sleeve because I had a co-worker that had it who did really well and it seemed like it had less malabsorption issues. However, I suffer from acid reflux and have taken a PPI for years (even now post RNY). My insurance has that comorbidity as an absolute contraindication for sleeve so I went with the RNY. So far I have been very happy with the decision.

I had RnY. I had a lot of weight to lose and had reflux, so it made the most sense for me.

VSG on 01/09/17

I chose VSG based on my age and doctor's recommendation. My doctor felt it was safest for me. I had many serious complications and stayed almost 4 months in the hospital.
