Does anyone have any information on what Humana Gold Plus requires for bariatric surgery? Specifically, do you know if they require a 6-month supervised diet? I called my insurance company today, but was not able to speak with anyone; they are supposed to call me back. I'll be calling them again tomorrow if I don't hear from them by then.

If you know anything, I sure would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks.

Beth

I live in Texas.  Here you have to find your own surgeon (they wouldn't recommend one) and he has to be willing to accept Gold Plus.  I wound up switching to Humana PPO so I could get my surgeon in Dallas.  But he had to be on the Gold Plus List - go figure!  Anyway, my insurance required 4 mos. with a dietician (same office with my surgeon - 1 consult and 3 mos. diet plan) or 6 mos. diet plan with your pc physician.  I paid the extra money and went with the dietician.  My doctor doesn't know much about gastric so didn't trust her to do it correctly.  My surgeon streamlined it through and I had my surgery 2 weeks after his first visit with me.  Good luck!!
