I recently answered a question from a member on where to obtain inexpensive protein supplements, and I have had quite a few memebers contact me requesting this information. So  figured I would share this will everyone.
There a few things you must do, but it is actually very easy to qualify. You can have private insurance, medicaid or medicare, you just must answer that your insurance will not pay for the item. There are income requirements, but they are very fair (for famly of 3, it is about $50K per year).
Here is the link, they have the application and a phone number to call for assistance if needed,
http://www.pparx.org/supporters/ViewProgram.php?program_id=403. You must have a physician sign off on the application (can be any physician, does not have to be the doctor who did or is going to do your surgery, my primary care doctor did mine. The quantity is based upon daily caloric intake, so to make sure I had enough we put 2000 calories per day and that 75% needed to come from a nutritional supplement. They also will allow you to choose 2 different products, so you can choose chocolate and vanilla or berry flavored. I also highly recommend that you try the product before ordering a huge supply, as I made a big mistake as the first product I selected was horrible, so I just get the Ensures, they are very good.
Here is the link for all the products that are available, I do recommend doing research on which product is best for you, and use that phone number as Abbott is wonderful at helping you choosed the best product for your specific needs.

Next info. This website can assist you in obtaining free or low cost medications (they even have vitamins and over the counter like Benedryl and Claratin) again income llimits are generous. Insurance regulations vary from program to program so you will need to review the program specifics for your prescriptions. http://www.pparx.org/en/prescription_assistance_programs.

And last, the following link is for vitamins and supplements. They have very high quality products at reasonable costs. They have frequent sales buy 1 get 1 free and buy 2 get 3 free. http://www.puritan.com/?scid=4150&cm_mmc=Linkshare-_-Text%20Link-_-Logos-_-Puritan%27s%20Pride%20Quality%20Vitamins&afid=63&safid=LNKSHR&siteid=YceJ80yOKnE-IHXJyZyh.ZkssJnR_YkX7Q.

If any of you have experienced problems with hair loss they have a great product. I highly recommend this to anyone to get prior to surgery as I have talked to many people that right around 4-5 month their hair begins falling out like crazy, lke mine. This is the product I use and my hair started growing back very strong in about 4 weeks, http://www.puritan.com/nail-care-656/hair-skin-nails-formula-007580?NewPage=1.

Finally, I am not a doctor or a nutritionist, only a patient with limited income that did a lot of research. So, before starting any supplements, please speak with your doctor or nutritionist to make sure that these products are safe for you and will not counteract with any of your medications.

I do hope this information is helpful, and am more than happy to answer any questions anyone may have. You are welcome to emal me at [email protected]. Please put Abbott Nutrition in the subject line so that I do not accidentially overlook it, as I do get a lot of emails everyday.

I wish all of you the very best in your weight loss journey.

Have a blessed day!
