Long Term Success

I'm a seven-year gastric bypass post-op who has realized long-term success. I have lost 100 percent of my excess weight and have kept it all off. I'm looking for other long-term successful bariatric patients to share some of their secrets to success. It's so rare in theses forums I see those who have met and maintained their goals. If you're out there, I want to hear from you.

As a pre-op, this is scary!! What do you mean, you rarely see people succeeding long term?? I have seen many people who have 5 years under their belt! Isn't that long term? If it doesn't work long term, why are people lining up to do it?
there but for the grace of God go I...

Congrats!  I am going on 5 years at my goal, although knowing I can gain now sucks, but it means I have to stay dilligent.  Everyone was ordering lunch today and when I said I don't eat lunch they all said thats how she stays thin, no seriously thats how I save money, I eat only breakfast and dinner and it works for me.  Eating at work isn't something I can do, I don't really like to eat in front of people.  I eat everything I like in moderation, have good and bad days and had to diet this year to lose a few lbs, I guess you could say I am pretty much normal now.  At least diet wise anyway.

Hugs Heidi

Me too Heidi! I'm pretty sure I'll never be "normal". You're a cutie!

We all do it in different ways. This is exactly the kind of thing I'd like to hear about.

Hi there! First of all, CONGRATS ON YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS!

Yes, it'll soon be 7 yrs for me too! I work out every day and walk anytime/every time I can! I have to make a very conscious decision every day to walk as it's either too hot out or too cold! ugh (always a good reason why not to right?), but, I have found that if I just walk even 20 minutes a day, every day, it helps keep my mind clear and focused on the things I need/want to do for me!

Have a terrific week and I'm proud of you!
Work like you don't need the money....Dance like no one is watching... Love like you've never been hurt.

Hi Teresa,
I am close to 5 years post op for gastric bypass and lost 130 pounds.  I have recently gain 15 pounds and don't want to gain any more. So I have come back to this website in need of encouragement.  I will visit your blog to see what you have done.  It is frightening to know that the weight can come back.
