Hi all - wanted to introduce myself, my name is Mari (sounds like Mary) and I have just accepted a job in Huntsville and will be moving there in the next few weeks. I had RNY 7 months ago with Dr Robert Davis (Big Medicine) and have lost right around 90 lbs.  I have been VERY active on the TMB and hope that I can find a new home here on the AMB.  I will be looking for a support group in town (will happily accept any and all assistance in that area) and will probably REALLY need all the support I can get by the time I get through the stress of moving, starting a new job and leaving my home behind.  I am very excited about my new career and life in Alabama.  I hope that I can find a whole new group of friends and peeps on the AMB.

Calm my irrational fears????  I'm only sorta kidding, this whole move has be scared to death.  I'll be in foreign (to me) territory with no friends or family so I'm going to have to count on my new chosen family.  I'll take any words of advice or encouragement I can get!!

Welcome to Huntsville! My family and I moved here about 9 years ago and we love it here! The Huntsville hospital wellness center has a weight loss support group that meets on the first Thursday of each month. Gastric banding meets at 5 PM and Bypass folks at 6 PM. Linda and the ladies there are great! I think the bypass group usually numbers around 40+. They do have a meeting during the day but I can't make it to that one with work and all.

There are a few others who live here in Huntsville as well. This area has a lot to offer and I can't imagine us living anywhere else. Have you found a doctor in Huntsville yet? Dr. Maliapur is wonderful - very caring and takes time with his patients.

This only came up 10 days ago and I have done NOTHING, because  I just received the offer letter fo my job this afternoon. I was laid off on January 12th and had been looking for a job when a former colleague called me (2 weeks ago), from out of the blue, and asked me to interview for this job.  Since then, it has moved like a wildfire.  I am expecting to be there by the beginning of the month, they want me to start on the 2nd, so I have to hustle to get my apt packed and then find a place to move into there in Huntsville.  It is going to be interesting to say the least!!!  Do you attend the meetings there at the wellness center?  I will be there by the 1st Thursday and will probably be needing some support by then! 

I will appreciate any and all help, direction, kind words, and support.

I attend the lapband meeting at 5 PM but I'll be more than happy to stick around for the bypass meeting. I live over in Madison but work in north Huntsville at the Toyota plant. We've lived in Huntsville but most of our time here has been spent in the Madison area. Just PM me and I can give you ideas about some of the apartments around here.. I live in some nice ones over in Madison that's real close to Redstone and NASA.

Is Athens NSE or W of Huntsville?  Can you tell that I am so NOT oriented to anything there yet??  I guess I am going to have to get moved there and then start figuring out where things are.
