I just wanted to let all of you know that I am feeling much better today.  Still really dehydrated, and still having the dark dark maroon poo, but according to the surgeons nurse, this is normal.  I actually got up today and took a shower, washed my hair, and folded up all the blankets I have been using lately.

Popsicle are basically my best friend right now, well Ice chips too, I let them melt in my mouth and then swallow.  I am actually going to leave the house today, I am going to visit my parents.  Show them Im still alive.

Thanks to all of you who prayed and sent messages I really appreciate everything you guys have done for me!!

Next week....full liquids!  I cant wait to eat eggs! (thats week 3)

Lol,

Marla

I'm glad you are feeling better.  One thing that helped me was "people" food.  On the way home from the hospital I stopped at Taco Bell and got an order of beans.  That small order made three meals for me but at least it was "normal".  Mash potatos and gravy from KFC are also good but the beans have protein.  Some doctors require a liquid diet for a period of time, but my doctor recommended really soft foods.  DO NOT attempt to eat anything like meats now.  That can literally kill you.   Follow your doctor's instructions.  Remember this may be your first time to go through something like this but it certainly isn't his.  He has the experience so listen to him and his staff.

So glad to hear you're doing better!!!

One word of caution...take it slow :)   I was feeling great - had a shower - had to lie down for three hours because I was completely drained of energy.  That was 2 days ago.  Today I went out for an errand - lasted for about 10 minutes and am back on the recyliner :)

i ahve been getting up regularly for walks around the house but anything beyond that is surprisingly exhausting so take it slow.

Good luck with the hydration!

Steph

Marla...we were discussing you at lunch and were so concerned before you spoke with Julie.  I am thrilled that you are better.  Rest and take care of yourself.

Hi Marla,
It's good to see you posting and feeling some better!  Just take it easy!  When is your next check up?

My first meal was an egg and it tasted better than any steak ever did!!  I guess I will always remember that first meal!!! LOL
