Give the scales back. Seriously. If you don't feel the need to weigh daily don't. Explain to your friend that having the scales around is detrimental to you.
Your loss is really no ones business but yours and your docs. JUST SAY NO TO DAILY WEIGHING.

A casual stroll through the lunatic asylum shows that faith does not prove anything.

I never broke the habit of daily weigh ins and never wanted to. I enjoy weighing everyday and knowing it isn't anywhere as high as it used to be. Okay so I weigh 3 pounds more today than yesterday, no big deal. I will weigh a couple pounds less tomorrow. I just go with the flow. If you don't want to weigh everyday put a lock on a closet and lock the monster in the closet.
So how often do I weigh....everyday and I have a smile on my face while I stand there.
Love, Miss Mary

Kristi,
I am nearly 6 years out and I weigh every day! Always have, always will! It helps keep me accountable. Most people's weight will fluctuate about 5 pounds, especially us women! Anything over that, well, we need to look at what we are doing. It is really easy to put the weight on, but really, really hard to get it off!
Like Miss Mary said, if you don't want to weigh daily, just put those scales in a closet and don't bring them out until you want to weigh. As for sharing your loss with others, that's a personal decision. Some of us were more than happy to share it while others were very uncomfortable sharing that information. Do what makes YOU happy and what YOU are comfortable with! Your friend may only be wanting to be your cheerleader!!! That is a good thing!

When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, "I used everything you gave me".

My mother bought me a nice set of scales shortly after my WLS. I did not want them because I had been told not to weigh. However, I began weighing myself daily. That was 3 1/4 years ago and I still weigh every morning before my bath. It is just what I do now. For some that is not good...but it helps me.

I, too, weigh everyday. After getting where I was because I was scared to know, I made a decision to stay on top of it. There was a point where, at 5 weeks post-op, I started a 3 week stall. I did have to take a break then, because I was driving myself crazy, but now i know these things happen.

I weigh every morning, & Love doing it. If you don't like weighing except when you go to the Dr, just get rid of the scales or put them away.
Just tell her next time she asks, I am don't weigh anymore. I can tell I am loosing wieght and will check it when I go to the Dr. She eventually will quit asking.
what I hate is when people insist on knowing exactly how much I have lost (when I say a lot) and then they want to know how much more I want to lose. and what my goal weight is. WHAT they really want to know is how much did you weigh in the beginning. And they just don't want to ask. They are trying to figure it out in their head. I am still very private as to what I weight. Result of all those years of being overweight and being made to feel ashamed of my weight. I told my DH and one of my best friends this week what I weighed when I stared and how much I weigh now. Neither one of them passed out. Just not something I like sharing with every Tom, Dick & Harry.

The GREATEST POWER we have is the power to FORGIVE. Use your power daily......
I had such FUN with my scales!
When I had the surgery, my grea-aunt in Germany sent me $50...I bought a really nice scale! I would weigh in umpteen times a day. I'd weigh myself, pee, and weigh myself again just to see how much pee weighed (ok, maybe I'm just a little weird and that was TMI,
but it was fun). I'd weigh as soon as I woke up. I'd weigh when I got out of the shower...if I passed them, I'd weigh myself. Why??? Because it was FUN!!! It was such a wonderful thing to see the pounds slipping away. And it was an affirmation that I was losing, because it took a while to get into smaller clothes. Now I weigh once a day. Just to make sure I'm being good. It's not as fun anymore. Darn it!
Take care and don't worry about it. Throw em away, give em away, lock em in the closet. Or see how much pee weighs!

It is so good to see your lovely face on the board! Every time I see a new tea pot I think of you!
