Heat?

This has been rather interesting. I think if we had gas heat I could tolerate it being a little cooler. We do have natural gas logs in the fireplace but don' t use them very often. They are now burning. I guess I am just the strange one. I was curious as  to what ever one kept the thermostat  set on in the winter.

Well, as I sit here in my sweats, socks, house shoes and a throw cover I have my heat set on 62 degrees.  We have gas and it's extremely high to run in the winter.  I usually turn it up to about 68 when we get home from work till we go to bed, but I came right in and cooked dinner tonight, and never got around to turning it up.  We will be going to church soon, so no need to waste the heat if we're not gonna be here.  It does get COLD, but we too, use flannel sheets, two blankets, comforter and a throw.  We are having to cut costs at ALL corners these days.  We do turn it up when the baby is here.  We sure don't want him getting sick again.  He usually sleeps with us as well, to keep him warm.  He won't keep covers on for anything.

Like I said I guess I am the strange one for keeping the heat so high. The high gas bill is the reason I don't use the fireplace much. Only when it is real cold like it has been for the last several days.  I am going to have to buy me some flannel sheets. I have never had any. I know all about them little fellows kicking off the covers.

Well,it's pretty darned cold in this big old house here, but we manage.  The flannel sheets are a life saver.  We love ours.  We got 2 sets for Christmas gifts.  They are the best.  What's with kids not keeping covers on???  I just don't understand.  They squirm all around and nearly freeze to death but can't stay under the covers.  Christian sleeps in thick footed pj's here and at his house.

I am right there with you.  I weigh 220 (down from 240) but I have been cold for several years now.  I keep the heat on 75-80 in winter, (and still wear lots of clothes) and rarely turn the ac on in the summer.  (seriously-1-2days per year!)  I dont know if this will change as my hormones fall off, but I am sort of looking forward to that; I think.  I went out last night and it was really physically painfully cold too me.  I hope to move to FL at some point, before I get too old and freeze to death!  We have checked all of the labs and can not find a reason.  Everyone says I am really strange for wanting so much heat.

I have 2 electric blankets on my bed, kept on 10.  I try to slip between them like a grilled cheese in the winter.  Best feeling!

It is finally good to see someone like me. For a while I was beginning to think there was something wrong with me. I am almost 6 years out from my surgery and this year seems to be the worst for me.  I cancelled appointments for today so that I would not have to get out in this cold. For me to stay at home and not get out you know it is cold. I can now tolerate the heat better than I could before my surgery.  I know what you mean about last night as my daughter and I went to the mall and I thought i would freeze going from the car to the store. Good to see someone else like me.

Hi Louise-

72-74 mostly.  We have gas heat with a heat pump.  We have a LOT of insulation and keep it loaded.  Our heat has cut on maybe three times today.  I also have a small, child friendly space heater in our family room and the playroom.  It keeps those common areas well heated.  Our living room, dining room and kitchen have 12 feet ceilings so I have ceiling fans going backwards to circulate the heat downward.   It all helps.

Hey Nanci. We have 2 electric heat pumps and with me keeping the heat so high surpriseingly my power bill is not that high.  I have closed the vents in my formal living and dinning room as they get all the sun during the day and those rooms stays real toasty. Now if I would use them I might not have to run the heat so high. My den is on the back side and does not get any day time sun so it does stay a little cool during the day.
By the way have you heard from our mutual friend?   Not a word now for several weeks on my end. But I know she is real busy.

heat on 67 and air on 68, we have electric heat with a gas fireplace back up. Our house is solid brick so the heat really stays in and we still get red faced at 67.  My iron level is going up I can tell I am not cold as much any more.

Hugs

Angie I have a box for you that I am putting in the mail tomorrow. I had it all bagged up but did not have a small box. Got one and it is ready to mail. Hope that some of this will help you. Glad that Iron is coming up and that you are not having to do the infusions.  Look for the box Friday or Saturday.
