How many home schooling parents do we have on here?  My boys will bee starting in 2 weeks and are so excited.  Anything I should know before hand, warnings or advice.  Any suggestions?

Nanci, I decided to go with Everest!  Thanks!

I homeschooled my son his senior year of high school.  He did so much better once he was in control of his education.  He doesn't have learning disabilities, just learns differently and tended to get lost in a class of 30-45 student.  He ended up being more motivated to do his work and was able to graduate early.  We went through a Church school near Bay  Minette.  He did his work independently, but had to take all his tests and exit exam at the Church School.  This worked out well for us.

How old are your kids?

Hi Susan!   I have heard wonderful things about Everest so I hope it will be a good decision for you.

My advice to you and all homeschooling parents is this:

Be willing to learn along with your children. If in doubt, research it together.
Be willing to admit if you are having trouble with a certain subject. This is especially important if you are teaching teenagers.  There are SO many programs for higher level HS students.  The HS (Evangel) located not to far from us offers labs and classes in Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Calculus, Language Arts, Fine Arts, and other advanced classes. The classes are taught by retired teachers or college professors and are minimal in cost.  Samford also offers dual enrollment for HS students.  In my cover school, we have many 11/12 graders taking college level classes, getting credit for both college and high school at the same time.
Stay in touch with your cover school and do everything they tell you. They are there to help and make sure your children are achieving their goals.
Get your children involved in the community and community projects. This will help them socially, the community, and all involved.  We do Meals on Wheels, Girl Scouts, church and Diocese programs, and organized group/homeschool events.  Socialization is important.

Good luck. You have my number if I can help in anyway.
