Hi all, I have been lurking on the OH forums for a while now.
Sorry bout that.  But I have been learning.

I want to have a ds.  I went to Dr Westmoreland's seminar(Tennessee) on Sept 30.  He isn't the Dr for me.

I am going to attend Drs Facundus and Foreman's seminar this Thurs.

Has anyone here had any experience with them?

Hello Kathy and welcome to the boards!  I would highly suggest you also check into Dr. Mailapur in Huntsville.  I am not sure when his seminars are scheduled but he is an amazing surgeon.

If you have any questions feel free to PM me.  Best of luck on your journey,
Heather

I had Dr. Foreman for RNY last year.  I liked him.  I wasn't so crazy about the Baratic Wellness Institute.  It wasn't covered by insurance.  You have to go there for your initial consulation and to see the nutritionist.  A lot of folks that I work with had Dr. Facundus.  I'm just down the road in Fayetteville.  A few of us will be getting together on the 25th.  If you'd like to join us, let me know.

I don't think dr mailapur does the ds.  I would go to him if he did.

I can't make it the 25 but would love to meet y'all.

I know dr facundus office said that there were two nutritionist appointments that insurance wouldn't cover.  Said they would be around 150.

Hi Kathy and Welcome!!!

I use Dr. Andrew DeWitt. Not sure if he does the ds but HE and HIS STAFF are FANTASTIC!!! It would very much be worth your time to give them a call. 205-502-4400, if memory serves me correctly this early in the a.m.

I totally agree with you Phyllis.  Dr. Dewitt is the BEST!  I just love him so and his staff is equally as wonderful.  Dr. Dewitt ROCKS!

I used Dr. Facundus and I loved him.  His staff was very friendly to me.  I just had surgery in June so I dont have a long history with him, but up to this point he has been great!

Good luck in your journey!

i've had facundus AND foreman for many surgeries already but i wouldn't go to them for a ds. it is my understanding that they've only performed ONE ds surgery so far (and it was a trial sort of thing). honestly, i trust these two men with my life (and have many times over!) but i wouldn't put my life into the hands of someone who's only performed ONE surgery of the type that i was seeking. *IF* you're wanting a ds i would highly suggest you find a more experienced DS surgeon. kwim? however, if you should choose an rny or even a band, these men are very well versed in BOTH of these procedures and i promise that they will take very good care of you

I used Dr. Foreman. He is a good doctor. but the follow up care sucks. I have never had any problems with my surgery maybe thats why they feel free to jerk me around with my appointments. I have to make 3 appointments before I see him and they are fantastic about not letting me know until I'm at the front desk that my appointment has been canceled. But he is a good doctor. Love, Miss Mary
