So now what??? I saw my Dr at 9 this morning and she entered the referral? Do I try to call and expedite the process? Do I sit on my hands? Help- what's the next step?
Thanks for your feedback.

I would call the bariatric center and explain to them that you were just referred .... just so they remember your name when it comes up.  You really should receive a package within 2 weeks BUT if you call (like I did) you'll get your package (I believe) earlier!

While you have them on the phone, ask them what is the earliest scheduling day for ORIENTATION.  That way you can figure out your schedule better....(ask what days or time frames because their slots are different)..also ask them about the various TRACKS that are coming up...again, what day and time frame.

They will be impressed that you know so much, just tell them that you heard KP is great at getting the ball moving for good health and that you're ready for your change!

CONGRATS GIRL, YOU DID IT!!

A TRACK is a set scheduled time frame for the classes, think .... semester.  Once you commit, stick to it..sometimes it can be boring, be prepared for weekley weigh-ins, and keeping your binder with you....

Just wait...... I had my surgery through Kaiser in So Cal also. From referral to surgery, for me was 10 months. I know it sounds like soooooo long -- but it is a process, and they really do make sure you understand the lifestyle changes that surgery is going to bring; plus they get your body in shape for surgery and make sure that you are physically well enough for this.

Patience, keeping in touch with the Bariatric nurse who runs the pre-op program, making sure you attend ALL the classes, orientations, and appointments.....asking for cancellation appointments for each and every test and proceedure will help too.

Feel free to pm me if you have specific questions. I am in the Antelope Valley area.

Hi Michele,
Glad to hear you were referred!! I received a letter in the mail about a week in a half to two weeks after my initial referral. Don't know if it'll be any different since you'll probably be attending classes at a diff medical ctr. Good luck on your journey! Remember my journey was only about 4 mos. from day of referral to surgery date.
