I know that when I was losing weight, I found that tracking both my activity levels and intake really helped me manage my weight loss. Often if I found my weight loss stalling, I'd check and find that my caloric intake was too low or I wasn't getting enough protein in. When I'd make the appropriate adjustments, I'd get going again. The other thing I found was that when tracking my activity I realized that I needed to up my caloric intake a bit to be sure that I was getting that baseline of 800 to 1000 calories a day to be sure that I didn't drop into starvation mode where your body gets more efficient with less calories.
Now, that I've lost the excess weight and shifted to the maintenance phase of my journey, I find that I don't journal my intake or activity nearly as much as used to. Now, I only do it if I see a trend occurring that I don't like... Either dropping or gaining too much weight. When I look at my logs, I find that I can actually see what I'm doing and when I make the appropriate corrections, so that I'm getting in enough protein, my weight balances out very quickly.
I have tried Fitday, Sparkpeople and LiveStrong/MyDailyPlate. I really like www.mydailyplate.com the best so far because I don't have to reinvent the wheel when I'm logging my food choices. I like the graphic pie chart that immediately shows me a visual so I can 'see' if my proportion of protiens, carbs and fats are on track.
So, my question is do you track your intake or activity? Have you found it helpful? Which tools have you tried and which do you like?Barbara

Dr. John Hughes in Indianapolis does RNY revisions and has recommended me for this on Sep 29th. I hope this works better.
NEW YORK (CBS) -
Eleven million Americans are considered morbidly obese, and that number is increasing.
It’s not a surprise, then, that the demand for surgical weight loss procedures is growing – and so is the number of different surgeries available.
One of the latest options is minimally invasive and reversible, making it one of the safest options out there... continued here.

It's not a sign of weakness to seek help when you need it.
The only sign of weakness is NOT to seek the help you need.

I am waiting on a hospital in Kentucky and the Dr. John Husted to be certified a Center of Excellence because, I have primary Medicare and then Medicaid (Spend Down Card). Medicare will only pay if it is a Center of Excellence. From what I have researched Dr. Husted has a lot of Bariatric experience and that is what I want. I hope how soon it happens - I am really pumped up. I have been reading Dr. Garth Davis book regarding WLS. I wish I lived in Houston, TX - I would have my surgery done with the Davis doctors in a heart beat.
I am very excited to have found this website (suggested by Dr. Garth Davis) and hope to hear from you guys soon.

We are excited to announce a number of big updates to Health Tracker; the most exciting being the introduction of Nutrition Tracking. We are hoping to release Friday, August 7th.
Nutrition
While we may be a bit biased, we think the new Nutrition Log here at ObesityHelp manages to be one of the easiest around to use without sacrificing functionality. What sets it apart from the others? Most nutrition logs force you to search for foods on one page, provide the details for a food item eaten on another page, and yet another page to actually view the items you have eaten for any particular day. Bottom line, you can't search for and add items while also viewing what you have eaten. We have streamlined the food logging process so that you can find the food items you are searching for, add them to your food log, view your food log and receive summary reports all on one page. You can also build a favorite foods list, create custom foods and share your foods with the community.
Body
Body has a new look and we have added the ability for you to manage (add and remove) the variables that you would like to track.
Tickers & Widgets
You can now specify if you would like your tickers to display "amount to go" or "amount changed". Tickers can now also be automatically inserted into your messageboard signature and/or profile introduction as you create them.
A widget displaying your macronutrient breakdown averages for various date ranges has also been added. This widget can be placed on any personal website or blog.
Reports
Custom reports can now be created using any number of variables from body and nutrition. These reports can be downloaded as a spreadsheet and make a great document to share with your physician, dietitian, personal trainer and friends.
What Are We Working On Next?
Activity tracking and other oh so fun stuff! Until then, enjoy the new features!

My understanding is that a revision is a 2nd surgery. It can reverse the first surgery (like take out staples from VBG) or modify/change your first surgery into another.
I also had a VBG w/silastic ring ,back in 1986 (Dr Laws @ Carraway). I never lost much from 280 to 230.
I am now on an educated search for a revision to a DS. It is hard to find a doctor who will do this revision after an open procedure. Most doctors are offering RNY only. Other doc's do everything laproscopically and won't operate on a previous open surgery patient. I have researched Atlanta, TN, SC etc without much success in finding an MD experienced at this.
If anyone has any surgeon names that revise open VBG to DS, please post them, or send them my way.
Good Luck and let me know if I can offer you any info.
Thanks
