Questions on a couple of Restaurants!?
Good morning everyone! Less than 2 weeks!! I got an email this morning from my DAD in Thailand. I think he is feeling very happy for me (and all of you) because of the wonderful cuisine that you all have in Charleston!! He has been to your wonderful city many many times over the years and is so happy that I have this opportunity and he thinks this is going to be a wonderful move for me.
Ok... so he has THREE (3) suggestions of places that I check out to eat.
1. Poogans Porch... and I cracked up because i had not even told him that I had found that on my own months ago, and that I had gotten the "two thumbs up" from all of you....
soooooo what do you think of these other two places he suggests.... (he has been to them, but it was in the past so they may have closed, or may not be as good anymore?)
2. Hyman's Seafood on Meeting Street
3. Aw Shuck's on Market Street
he says I have to try the She Crab soup at both ... and he hinted about a tshirt at the Aw Shucks... lol I have not seen my dad in a long time, and I miss him so much. wish I could bring him with me!
Hope everyone is having a great morning.

Your Dad has great taste in resturants. Hyman's is my favorite, we would have to get there early because they fill up FAST, but their Fried Green Tomatos and boiled peanuts are the best! I do not think I have been to AW Shucks! The name reminds me of Oysters and I DO NOT DO OYSTERS!
Plus I think it started out as mainly an oyster bar. But Hyman's and AW Shucks are very close to each other and in the heart of Charleston. But I can not stress enough the need to get to, at least Hyman's early! Poogan's is kinda off the beaten path.
I was planning on taking you to Hyman's! And yes, if you come to Charleston getting the She Crab soup, which is now really crab soup, is a must. YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For us it is a sharing thing because it is very rich. There is also another place I was thinking about, it is called MiMi's Creekside and it is on James Island! GREAT FOOD!

I can go the distance... I do not care how far... I know every mile will be worth my while.
My goal in life is to be as good of a person as my DOGS already think I am!

In my "prior life" lol..... I loooooved Fried Oysters....(I still love them, but they dont take too kindly to my pouch!) I never liked the half shell kinds too slimy though. I would like to go to all the places my Dad mentioned though...just because he was there and now he is in the peace corp and I miss him so much my bones hurt.... I also want to get him a tshirt and mail it to him.... :) He will wear it with pride! I think my Dad is a little bit homesick for American food although he would never ever say that....!! My mom would though...lol!!
hugs!
