Ugh...I feel awful!!!!

First, thanks to everyone who was so kind to give me well wished before my surgery. It means the world to me! now for the complaining... Every sip makes my belly do some kind of gurgling pain/burp thing...unless I stand and drink water... I know I just had surgery on Friday, but I feel just awful! Boy does that burping/gurgling pain thing hurt!  Did anyone else experience this? It does get better when I take pain meds. I'm also really sensitive to smells I'm with Renee on the Prozac...it is the most disgusting vile stuff I've ever had to choke down! Although, the capsule is smaller than the gallbladder pill that they said I have to take whole...I'll call them and ask them if I can take it whole. The gallbladder pill goes down fine. I won't even start with the drain.... I'm not getting in near the amount of water/protein/vitamins that I should...and believe me I've tried. I'm also struggling with getting sleep. I think I've gotten about 8 hours of sleep in the past 4 days. I've tried many positions in the bed, on the couch, in the recliner...but I can only sleep for about 1.5 hours at a time.  sigh...I know all this will pass and I'll be very happy and satisfied with my decision...but I can't help but think how last Thursday I could eat whatever I wanted, sleep whenever i wanted, and feel no pain...I'm such a baby! Thanks for reading...please pray for me!

Hang in there Jenn, it is hard in the beginning but the rewards are worth it.   Sip, Sip, Sip on your water....that is the most important thing.  You won't get in all of your protein at first, so concentrate on your fluids and what protein you can do.  As for the Prozak, I bet Dr. B will let you take it whole.

You just gotta get through it.  Stay hydrated.  Get in as much protien as possible - even if it isn't as much as you are supposed to. Once the drain comes out, the sleeping will be easier.  The pain will subside a little. It will get better.  You'll probably have forgotten all about this time in a couple of weeks.

awe, the first month is so tough.  That drain will be out in a few days and things will start to look better....I promise. For  the first month, don't worry too much about how much you can eat, protein or not, just eat the soft foods and drink.  Crystal lite, water, 100% natural juice.  The eating part will come after 1 1/2-2 months.  YOu can even drink your protein now also. Girl, when they say your taste changes, it does.  Mine started changing within a week.  Don't be suprised that you don't even like the things you did before. All the meds you got in the hospital messes with your sleep pattern.  Go ahead and take those naps in the day time.  Your body needs it. At about 2 weeks, you will probably ask yourself why you did this, but after a month, you will still be glad you did. Hold on girl.......the ride has begun. Our prayers are with you. Deb

I am sorry you are feeling so terrible.  It is OK, we have all been there.  The most important thing right now is hydrations, go get sugar-free popsickles, they will help.  The sleep will come.  You put your body through major surgery.  Yea the drain is bad, but trust me you will feel so much better and NORMAL again once it is out.   Come here any time and be baby!  We are here to help and listen. Julie

HI JENN CONGRATS ON YOUR SURGERY. YOU SOUND JUST LIKE ME AFTER I HAD MY SURGERY AND I AM NOW 3 MONTHS OUT AND I JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW THAT IT WILL GET BETTER. I AM STILL HAVING TROUBLE GETTING IN ALL OF MY PROTEIN AND FLUIDS EVEN AT THIS STAGE. ONCE THE DRAIN COMES OUT, YOU WILL FEEL SO MUCH BETTER. JUST REMEMBER TO STAY HYDRATED SO SIP, SIP, SIP ON YOUR FLUIDS AND TRY TO GET PLENTY OF REST BECAUSE YOUR BODY NEEDS IT NOW. HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER SOON AND TAKE CARE.
